And Then There Are The Other Times
May 17, 2005
When they are so sweet, it makes your teeth ache.

I now have a vase full of “pretty flowers” on my kitchen table. At least this time they have stems.
Which really beats the floating dandelion heads arranged in a bowl as a centerpiece.

too sweet. What a cutie!
May 17th, 2005 at 11:14 pmMy God! Those are the biggest dandelions in the universe! Or perhaps your daughter is exceptionally tiny.
My mom threw away any dandelions I picked for her, so you’re already doing better than her. She did, however, let me DIG dandelions out of the yard (they had to be roots and all) for a penny apiece. One afternoon of that was all I needed to know that I was better off prostituting myself for ice-cream truck money.
May 18th, 2005 at 7:22 amMeg, that is so funny.
Last month, when the snow finally melted for good, I offered the kids 5 cents for every stick they gathered up in the yard. Clearly I am insane, or oblivious to the amount of sticks we had in our yard, because they each found hundreds upon hundreds of sticks.
In the end, I managed to convince them that a pack of gum and tin of Altoids was a *much* better deal.

I want some dandelions.
May 18th, 2005 at 1:22 pmThat is precious. I love the picture. How did you convince them to leave stems on? I have had my share of floating dandelion heads as well. My son is at the stage now where he would rather bring them in when they are white and ready to blow.
May 18th, 2005 at 3:15 pmFloating dandelion heads, floating daisies, floating rhodedendrons.. we moms have had them all yet each time we kiss the child and tell them how wonderful they are.
Darling pic.
