wistful longers club has adjourned, for now
May 29, 2007
You can’t always get what you want…
but if you try sometimes, you might find, you get what you need.
No France, no crusty baquette, no flowing skirt or 18 yr old body.
But I got the basket.
Who knew that a seat carrying a toddler, wearing a Thomas the Tank Engine helmet, would be so much better than anything else I could have imagined. Except for the body of an 18 yr old.

I love! And in that picture, you could pass for 18. (Also, you got your hair cut!)
May 29th, 2007 at 5:21 pmI don’t know…I think you pretty hot! I certainly don’t look as good as you and I’ve only had the one kid!
May 29th, 2007 at 5:43 pmFrankly, you look fabulous and most convincingly 18.
I love the bike. My mom and sister just got one too… now I am thinking I should finally learn to ride one.
May 29th, 2007 at 5:56 pmUm, what the heck did you look like at 18?!
May 29th, 2007 at 7:14 pmWhat? You’re not 18?!
It’s a very nice picture and you look great.
May 29th, 2007 at 7:57 pmNo, all you got is the body of a 19 year old. Lucky bitch.
May 29th, 2007 at 7:58 pmI agree that not much beats carrying a kid on a bike. We just put our 9-month old in a front-mounted seat (a bit earlier than recommended but it’s so much FUN to be able to bike again!) You two look like you’re having so much fun!
May 29th, 2007 at 8:04 pmAhh, these are the photos you will show your daughters-in-law someday and they will perhaps despise the fact that you were this together, but with luck, your boys will pick girls who get it and say “my mother-in-law is the coolest!”
Except Miles - if you feel about him like I do about my youngest DS, he must stay little. Mine had promised to live with me forever, but now at age 6 he is thinking maybe he’ll buy the house next door. Not to live in, just for his wife and kids. He will go and play with them every night after work for a while before he comes back home.
I’d worry if I weren’t quite sure it won’t last.
May 29th, 2007 at 8:23 pmChris I think you look fantastic. I would love to have the body you have. For someone who has had 7 children you have managed to keep ourself in GREAT condition, in fact you probably have a better body than a lot of 18 year olds.
You all must look great out there together on your bikes. Hubby and I bought bikes a few years ago with great intentions but you know how it goes, oneday.
Love CJ
May 29th, 2007 at 8:53 pmWhat a great picture. Have fun.
May 29th, 2007 at 9:26 pmYou guys are the epitome of cuteness! This, though, is when you wish you lived someplace really, really flat, because biking is easier on flat surfaces.
And, I bet you’re sick of hearing it, but how the hell do you look so good after 7 kids??
May 29th, 2007 at 10:39 pmYes yes you are totally cute, but look at your SHOOOOOES! They are the BEST.
May 29th, 2007 at 10:51 pmWe have the same shoes
May 30th, 2007 at 12:14 amEveryone will always ask you if that’s you with your oldest when he was a baby, ’cause YOU LOOK THAT GOOD.
May 30th, 2007 at 12:33 amI’m pretty convinced that, at 18, you must’ve looked like a toddler.
May 30th, 2007 at 2:37 amIsn’t it fun to get your wish?
BTW, I didn’t look that good till I was 50.
May 30th, 2007 at 6:35 amYou do look very happy!
But part of me is still longing for that 3rd wheel.

May 30th, 2007 at 8:05 amLove the bike! The basket is awsome!!!
May 30th, 2007 at 8:12 amBicycle days are here at long last. Enjoy and congrats on looking so terrific!
May 30th, 2007 at 8:13 amGreat picture - looks like a lot of fun! I’m 20 and you look much better than me. You are my inspiration for when I have my 7 kids. (2 down - 5 to go)!
May 30th, 2007 at 8:18 amYou look beautiful, dahling! Miles looks so happy.
May 30th, 2007 at 9:38 amBy the way, I got my issue of Good Housekeeping in the mail and I love your article! You are famous! Every time Roo sees the magazine he says “high five” to Diana because she is waving. Cute.
oh but you do have a cute figure. and you both look so adorable and happy. Im 7 months preggo and feel like a blimp, oh how i want my body back.
May 30th, 2007 at 11:35 amNice basket! What fun.
May 30th, 2007 at 12:11 pmYou look great and Miles looks so happy. OK, now to the nitty gritty what shoes are they?
May 30th, 2007 at 12:44 pmuh - you do have the body of an 18 yr old - seriously - you look like a teenager - if you weren’t so articulate and funny I’d hate you.
Hope your weekend is great.
May 30th, 2007 at 12:48 pmWell 18 yo body or not, but my four year old, when he saw your picture, had asked me “where is this girl and a boy are going”? Second question was: “Can I go with them?”
May 30th, 2007 at 1:48 pmI am wistful! I would love to have a bicycle with a basket.
May 30th, 2007 at 4:14 pmDang! You look GOOD!
And the basket is darling. As is the child in the seat behind you. ^_^
May 30th, 2007 at 4:32 pmYou kinda DO look like you have the body of an 18-year-old!
May 31st, 2007 at 6:21 pmYou could easily pass for 18!!! Very nice picture - don’t know how you have the time . . .
June 5th, 2007 at 12:09 amI just bought that same bike (I believe it is the Trek…7100?) on almost the same day. Weird. Both of my kids mastered the two-wheeler, and with gas prices… we are a biking family now.
