Remember my brand new freezer and refrigerator, that I just got in July? Well, I have been waiting for a repair person to come and fix BOTH of them. Yes, BOTH of them.

I have been given the window of sometime between 8 and 5 today. Frankly, I am not sure they are giving themselves enough wiggle room with that time estimate.

The freezer has been making a really loud clanging noise when it turns on. We have tried everything within our realm of expertise, which would be pulling the freezer out and shaking vigorously. Well, as vigorously as one could possibly shake a heavy freezer. The freezer also has a huge dent on the right side like it was dropped in transit. Could that be why the delivery people were so intent on pushing it into its alcove, but not turning it on? Makes you wonder.

I have called numerous times, but guess what. There are no service technicians in our area. Nope. Not a one. But there are refrigerator service technicians. Go figure. So who is coming to fix the freezer? So far, that would be NO ONE. What about you? No?

Now, the problem with the refrigerator is that the door is hanging crooked. There are no adjustments to fix it. We had to disconnect the built in grill like thing on the bottom to be able to close the door properly. So I am not sure what they are going to do other than replace it.

But sometime between 8 9:40 and 5 today I will find out.

    Hey there, we did the same thing ordering over the internet.
    My frig is fine but the stove was beaten up along the way my bottom drawer is a lil off and a dent on the side…Where is the repair people when you need them? I think that will be the end to internet ordering for us.. good luck with your appliances.

    It’s a good thing you didn’t have anything better to do with your time today. I just love waiting for a repairman. How about the Maytag guy? I hear that he’s not very busy.

    Tonya said it all. What’s your problem? You’re not doing anything anyway. In fact, you should be grateful that you have a broken appliance to lend excitement to your humdrum existence. And now you have a repairman coming! Lonely housewives love repairmen visits!

    now did they say 8am to 5pm, cause once I got that time frame and they came at 830 pm, apparently my window was actually 8pm to 5 am.

    Ugh, that is ridiculous. And I hate those time windows. Especially when they say 8am-5pm and show up at 5:30. Thanks for wasting my entire day.

    I got that 8-5 time frame on a delivery recently and called at 4:30 to find out if they, in fact would be delivering it that day. The woman on the phone told me “oh, I wouldn’t start to worry until at least 7:00 or 7:30.” Uh, thanks, now I’m filled with confidence.

    Chris,
    My experience has been that once the refrigerator door is crooked that there is no fix beyond a replacement of the entire refrigerator. Sometimes during the delivery process the delivery gorillas warp the frame of the “box” which then causes a problem with the doors closing correctly. I’ve had this happen twice, unfortunately. And with your family I cannot imagine how many times the refrigerator door opens and closes in the course of the day. Sorry but sounds like you might have a battle on your hands. Go get them Chris!!!!

    In my experience, for “free” service calls they wait and wait until they have a lull in their appointments or maybe a bunch in the same area to bother to visit you. My mom had to wait six weeks for a warrantied oven part to be delievered, a part which she later found out they keep in stock at all times. Grrr.

    I had a repair window of 9am-12 this morning with the Sears guy…. he showed up at 7:43 AM. How’s that for living in an alternate reality? If he had been there about 20 minutes earlier he could have seen me walking through the living room in my undies telling the kids to put their socks on….. or maybe he did and it just took him 20 minutes to recover from it…..
