    aaaahhhhhh. awesome!

  2. Tonja says:

How sad and yet how wonderful!

  3. Petey says:

My baby turned 3 in September and wants nothing to do with the undie-wayahs. I gotta get a handle on this.

  4. dcrmom says:

FREEDOMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! :0) Definitely bittersweet, though. I hope I’m saying the same thing soon. My 2-year-old needs to start wearing undie-wayahs soon.

  5. Jennie says:

My baby wants the undie-wayahs, he just doesn’t want to use the potty. Sigh.

  6. InterstellarLass says:

    Lucky you! No more diapers!

  7. Lilly says:

I remember it was startling to see how small their bottoms really are once they stop wearing the big padded diapers. That is a sweet photo!

  8. Jody says:

Very bittersweet! Check out “Let Me Hold You Longer” by Karen Kingsbury. It’s a children’s book sure to make a tear or two come to your eye. All about a child’s “lasts”.

  9. Beth says:

So … time to have another then, eh?

  10. tori says:

I am there too. All 4 of my kids are now potty trained and I am sort of sad about it.

  11. sleeping mommy says:

SO sweet! I’m jealous, I’m still working on my Baby and he’s turning three in two weeks. UGH.

  12. nabbalicious says:

    Awww. So cute!

  13. Jennie says:

    Cutest picture I’ve ever seen!

  14. Dana says:

That picture is adorable!!! And what a cutie!! They grow up fast, don’t they?

  15. peepnroosmom says:

Awww. Undie-wayahs. That is bittersweet. And look, he has his trusty baseball and bat.

  16. shaz says:

    cute butt! ;)

  17. Anna says:

    What a cute little tushie!

  18. Heather says:

Hehe, I’m just imagining how funny it would be if grown up baseball players played in their undie-wayahs.

  19. BetteJo says:

What an adorable little tushie! LOVE the boxer briefs - and apparently they flatter the little guys too. How cute!

  20. Deputy's Wife says:

We spend all these past years praying for the day when we don’t have to change a diaper anymore. That day finally gets here, and it is somewhat sad. At least for me it was. Here’s to you having a few months of having “Somebody pull up my pants!” (Can you tell I am praying for the day mine can pull up his own pants?)

  21. Phoenix says:

Ahhh those are such cute undie-wayahs. I’m sure you won’t miss it, right? Now the end of terms like undie-wayahs will be so sad.

  22. TwoSquareMeals says:

How cute. My eldest has the same underwear, and he refuses to wear any others. I have to wash the “ball underwear” every other day. His little brother wants to potty train, and I am the one not ready for it. Mine have such skinny little tooshies that it is hard to find pants that stay up once they are out of cloth diapers!

Been reading your blog for a long time and finally came out of lurkdom to start posting a bit. Keep up the funny and real posts.

  23. diana says:

that is one of the cutest things i have ever seen!!!

  24. erin rae says:

That photo is the cutest damn thing I’ve seen all day. All week perhaps. Makes me want to start procreating this exact instant!

  25. Dawn says:

THAT? Is just too darned cute for words.

And yay for you and the end of the diaper changes!

  26. MamaLee says:

Time to celebrate that cute little butt!

  27. Maddy says:

Bravo, those 13 years deserves a round of applause!

  28. vanessa says:

That is pretty much the cutest picture ever.

  29. Lynda says:

What cute little buns! and CONGRATULATIONS on no more diapers.

  30. shannon says:

aaaw. and i thought my 9 yrs was bad. cute picture!

  31. Crisanne says:

I had no idea they make boxer briefs in tiny sizes. Must go looking for those. Hopefully my son will want to go on the potty soon.

  32. CaliforniaGrammy says:

That calls for a Margarita! Hip Hip Hooray! NO MORE DIAPERS!

  33. Jessica says:

WOW! Thats so cute :) I can’t imagine changing diapers for 13 years!

  34. Deb says:

You will remember the day you first left the house without the diaper bag for a long, long time!

  35. amy says:

Free at last, free at last, thank god almighty, you are free at last! Jump up and down with joy. By the way - that picture is to die for adorable.

  36. Lisa says:

That is bittersweet! But how cute is a baby’s bottom in their undies? Adorable.

  37. Angie says:

I am so jealous!!! I just gave up trying to potty train my 3 year old yesterday. If he wants it, he’ll have to do it. I’m tired of caring more than he does.

Beautiful picture. I wonder if it would inspire a certain stubborn 3 year old?

  38. Alissa says:

those are the damn cutest pair of boxer briefed buns i ever did see.

  39. judi casey says:

    that is one cute picture!

  40. Pam says:

There is nothing cuter than a little boy butt in some boxer briefs!!! (in a totally not weird way of course).
We’ve been done here for 3 years. 3 of 3 boy just turned six so I’ve said goodbye to all the big milestones.
Welcome to financial freedom! Well, at least until they need braces and oh yeah, go off to college.

  41. Anna says:

There might not be anything cuter in the entire world than a tiny little pair of boxer brief undie-wayahs.

  42. Susan says:

I love the photo. I’ve still got one and half to go. (The half wears undies until it’s time to poop. Then he wants a diaper - except for yesterday when he pooped by a tree during soccer practice.)

  43. Earl says:

My grandson was three in August, he once was potty trained. But then he lost interest and is too lazy. BUT He insists on wearing “undie-wayahs” OVER his diaper. I told his mom if she wants him potty trained it should be either- or, but not both. I think she just doesn’t want the battle.

  44. Wendy says:

How did you potty train him, that he would need a helmet?

I can mail you a few of my current, ripe diapers if you need a walk down memory lane.

  45. Mary says:

In home child care. I’m closing in on 18 years of diapers and still loving every minute. I do understand the heartache that goes with seeing your baby grow up, though. My “baby” started High School this year.

  46. Jordana says:

I love a baby boy in little boxers. So, so cute.

  47. Jen @ amazingtrips says:

I am very unsuccessfully potty training our triplets at the moment. In the past week, they have managed to poop everywhere EXCEPT the potty. I’d be dancing in the streets if just one of them could don underwear for a full day. Maybe when our fourth child - also in diapers - is nappy free - I will share in your sorrow. Right now, I’m green with envy.

  48. kellie says:

Chris what a great wonderful amazing feeling don’t you agree??!! after only four children I was thrilled to say no more diapers!!!!!

    and the photo??
once again you captured it like no other. I thought for certain the caption would be along the lines of another season begins…( or lets go red sox! sorry you yankee fans!) and I began to think is there a winter league and please do not tell my boys if there is!

  49. jennifer says:

i had kids in diapers for 12 years… i was so happy to say goodbye to diapers i had a no more diapers party!!!

  50. Pastormac's Ann says:

LOVE this picture! Congrats on being done with diapers - what a wonderful wonderful day.

  51. Bronnie says:

that is the best photo!! he’s so tiny and the helmet is so huge!!
he’s very cute. and yay for you that he’s out of diapers!

  52. Brigitte says:

Congratulations! (and jealousy - they claim girls are easier, but mine will be 3 in two weeks and still isn’t interested)

  53. Jennifer says:

Is he using the potty? Did he ask to? Did you use the method you described on your other blog?

AHHHH! I want mine to be wearing the underwears too but he does not seem ready. And I am too scared to go at if he’s not compliant.

  54. Jamie says:

I love it! That little tush is too cute! Boxer briefs are my favourite undie-wayahs on little boys. My 2 1/2 yr old baby is wanting to sit on the potty now- all she does is grunt and say “all done”, but it’s a start. I found the baby panties for her and my 5 yr old son is really pushing for me to put her in them, lol. This from the boy who would hold it until he was ready to explode, he hated the potty that much. It’s been 9 years in diapers for me so far- it’s almost weird to think it might be over soon.

  55. Liz says:

Look at that big little guy!!!!

  56. Kristi says:

Well you could just remedy that. Go on, have another!

The pot says to the kettle.

  57. Marie says:

    Great picture Chris !!

  58. annie says:

That’s the shortest 13-year-old I’ve ever seen. Is that why it took so long? Just kidding! OK - maybe not funny… It’s a wonderful picture!

  59. Carola says:

    Time for another one! :)

  60. JEN says:

Cutest picture ever. Whatever will you do with all the free time???

  61. Angela says:

That is one of the sweetest and best pictures I’ve seen in a long time. Woohoo! Go get a manicure and pamper yourself, you deserve it.

  62. sweethomealagirl says:

omgoodness! that is the cutest little undie-wayahs bum! how sweet…and bittersweet. i agree…after 13 years of diapers (and pt’ing 6 boys, no doubt!), treat yourself to something nice, mama!

  63. Lisa says:

Awwww, I love little boy boxer briefs!!

  64. Courtney says:

OMG - that is so freaking cute! Congrats!

  65. alice says:

That’s probably the cutest pair of undie-wayahs I have ever seen.

  66. Friday Playdate » oh, you’re right, that is absolutely . . . wait, what were we talking about? says:

[...] various side conversations about the crazy that is Freecycle and how Chris is FINALLY finished potty training and how Our People say hello with a boob grab) at the SAME TIME that I was writing posts about bad [...]

  67. Mommy mommy says:

Yay for you!! SO when is the next one due?

  68. Katie says:

    Congratulations! And so cute. :)

  69. halloweenlover says:

Is he greeting the neighbors in that outfit? ; )

Those are the cutest little boxers I have EVER seen! What a gorgeous baby.

  70. rebecca says:

That could so totally be my youngest in that photo. Nearly naked, yet ready to get in the game. :) Enjoy your new diaperless life!

  71. misty says:

YAY!!!!! Who wouldn’t rejoice about that??? And little boxer briefs to boot!

  72. LeeAnn says:

    What a cute little behind!

  73. Jamie AZ says:

That is just too cute! My 3 year old has those same undies! We’re still in pull-ups at night as he’s quite a stubborn kiddo and can’t seem to go more than 2-3 days in a row with a dry pull-up. My 6 year old was PT’d night and day within 30 days of his 3rd birthday… the younger is 2 months shy of turning four…

  74. Manic Mommy says:

So cute - with the helmet and tiny butt, he looks like a lollypop.

As for the freedom comments, I beg to differ. Now begins the scenic tour of every public restroom from here to California. Repeat after me in a panicked voice - “Don’t Touch that!”.

  75. Beth says:

    So, so cute!

  76. Heather B. says:

    Awww. Congratulations.

Question: After it was completed did you run through the house saying “I’m free! I’m free!”? Because that’s what I would do.

  77. Suzanne says:

My little guy is about the same age as your little guy and just this week said bye bye to diapers too, he’ll be happy to see another big boy :-)

  78. Beagoodmom says:

I admit, I get a feeling of such glee when I see my son’s “Hanes” waistband sticking out of the top of his jeans!

  79. Ruth H says:

Bittersweet - true, but what a milestone! It is sorta like school kids out for summer, knowing they will be thrilled to go back in the fall. But all moms know changing dirty diapers is not the BEST part of being a mom. It’s that cute little tushie AND being able to tease him with that picture when he turns 9!

  80. Tricia says:

There is nothing sweeter than little baby buns!

  81. geminishadow79 says:

I didn’t know they made little boxer briefs for babies, they too adorable!

  82. Joy H says:

OOOOOOoooo, a delicous ‘da-hind’ to pinch. Great pic.

  83. mary says:

OMG has it been that long????? I remember him as a wee little baby!

  84. carrie says:

Uh-oh, and he’s already ready for baseball, too? They grow way too fast!

  85. julie@lovelaugter&laundry says:

I have never seen a cuter picture anywhere. That is just adorable!

  86. Jackie @ Family Daze says:

Just want to pinch that little behind! Too cute in his undie-wayahs!

  87. Diane says:

    DARLING!!! Absolutely darling!

  88. Brandi says:

I’m so sad. I cannot see the picture everyone is talking about. I don’t think it’s my browser because I can see all the other pictures you’ve posted over the past few days. Humpf.

I’d love to see too because my oldest just potty-trained recently and we’ve had some very cute undie/naked moments.

  89. Anna G. says:

I have one about the same age as Miles (will be 3 in Dec.) and he likes his pull-ups a little too much. I started putting on his little brother and he had a fit that “Willup has Naniel wull-up on”. He looks at thed toilet announces that he is done and runs through the house naked from the waist down. Guess it is a good thing that he has 6 brothers and no sisters.

  90. nextcommercial says:

O.K. THAT is the cutest little butt I have ever seen. Of course, the oversized helmet makes it ever cuter.

I just realized… I have watched him grow up.

    Now, I’m a little sad.
