Transformation to Big Complete
October 27, 2007
Previous steps in the transformation included:
1) Telling me to wait OUTSIDE the bathroom while he goes potty. Because not wearing diapers for almost two weeks means he has forgotten that I have seen and wiped his bare backside for almost 3 years.
2) Telling me he is not a baby, a brover, or cute. He is just big, no further descriptive adjective is needed. And don’t you forget that.
3) Giving up napping. Because that is for a baby. See above.
4) No more kisses, especially on his face while he is trying to watch tv. Kisses may, however, be tolerated if they are offered in exchange for staying up later.

WAH and AWWWW all at the same time!
I SO remember when my first told me NOT to kiss his wee feet any longer - nor sing while doing so: “I’m gonna eat ‘em up w/butter ‘n sugar - yum yum yum!” OH, the heartbreak (um - he was almost four though :))
HUGS!
October 27th, 2007 at 5:30 pmwow- that was fast- that adorable little baby looks so grown up all of a sudden!
October 27th, 2007 at 5:41 pmLove the tee shirt, what a doll he is!!!
October 27th, 2007 at 5:42 pmwow. he looks so… five. and then i looked at his wee hands and went “naahh, he’s just big”. way to grow ‘em! your whole family looks adorable.
October 27th, 2007 at 6:11 pmHe even has his “all grown-up face” on.
October 27th, 2007 at 6:27 pmBefore this last one, I’ve never been sad to see them turn into a big girl or big boy, because I’ve always had a baby to hold at the time. This time, it’s hard. Very hard. No more feet to kiss. No more bottoms to squeeze. No little one to cuddle in the big bed in the morning. Very hard. I think I’ll miss my babies forever, all the while being so glad to see them grow up.
October 27th, 2007 at 6:33 pmWow, he has grown so much. I have been reading your blog(s) for a while, just never commented. Thank you for sharing your life and kids with all of us here. You have been a great encouragement to me (this sentence does not sound right, but English is my second language :))!
October 27th, 2007 at 8:44 pmIf your baby is all grown up, then mine is next and that’s too sad to think about right now. Thank you tho’ for sharing your pain with us.
October 27th, 2007 at 9:07 pmWow, if you look back at your flikr photos, it doesnt seem so long ago…….
*Julie* your sentence sounds fine.

Noooooooooooooo! I won’t let him grow up! I won’t I won’t I won’t and you can’t make meeeeee….
October 27th, 2007 at 9:10 pmWho is that? Is that MILES? I’m totally confused.
October 27th, 2007 at 9:22 pmOh. My. God. Stop him!! No, he can’t possibly look that grown up. He’s such a big boy. No, no, no - I refuse to look. That’s it. If I don’t look…then it’s not happening.
(hasn’t worked with my kids yet, but I never give up hoping!)
October 27th, 2007 at 9:24 pmHe is adorable, and that tee-shirt is seriously awesome.
October 27th, 2007 at 9:46 pmWow. Even I’m thinking he’s growing up a little too fast. But he’s still the cutest thing. Come on, do you have ONE ugly kid? I mean, are you sure you aren’t hiding any up in the attic?
October 27th, 2007 at 10:14 pmWHAT? OMG…what a cutie! That haircut is adorable. My 3 year old gets offended if anyone calls him anything but “kid”…as in “I’m a big kid!”
October 27th, 2007 at 10:50 pmoh, i’m sad for you, i can’t imagine when my last gets out of diapers and looks that big.
October 27th, 2007 at 10:55 pmi’m a goofball - that’s a broken link on my last comment. and now that i’m correcting it i think that makes me like the guy in Swingers.
October 27th, 2007 at 10:56 pmwow he sure did grow fast. He is still very cute though even though he is not a ‘baby’ anymore
October 27th, 2007 at 11:34 pmwow, that haircut makes him look so much older!!
October 27th, 2007 at 11:41 pmit’s crazy how fast he’s growing!
cute t-shirt too!
Noooo! Wasn’t he a baby just yesterday? It must just be that new haircut that’s making him look like a big boy…
October 27th, 2007 at 11:52 pmThe t-shirt is awesome! And he does look so grown up and handsome.
October 28th, 2007 at 5:35 amSniffle. The bitter-sweetness of it all.
October 28th, 2007 at 8:10 amThey grow up way too fast for me!!! What a cutie pie though!!!
October 28th, 2007 at 8:23 amI too am not allowed to kiss - this started around 3-4 as well (he is currently 5). I am allowed to hug (briefly), but not always in front of others. If only we could keep them young just a bit longer! He’s beautiful! And one of the boys now.
October 28th, 2007 at 9:17 amOh man! He really is a big boy now!
October 28th, 2007 at 10:08 amWow he’s getting so big so fast!! I have only been reading your blog for the past 6months or so but still!!! That just means my two little ones are right behind
October 28th, 2007 at 10:10 amWe have that shirt! I love it! Oh and I so feel your pain on the growing thing.
October 28th, 2007 at 11:05 amHe is growing up so fast. What a big boy. And I love his haircut.
October 28th, 2007 at 12:29 pmWaahhh! That means my baby is right on his heels.
Awwww. Just awwwww.
Oh, but also, he is freaking adorable. Great picture.
October 28th, 2007 at 1:12 pmOh, my. I agree, transformation complete. I think I just shed a tear for you, Chris.
October 28th, 2007 at 3:20 pmLove the t-shirt!
October 28th, 2007 at 3:33 pmBut can you still kiss boo-boos? And who wipes his bum after poops?
And is he still a ‘baseball guy’?
MY baby (2 1/2) is starting to favor Daddy. Does this mean time for another??
October 28th, 2007 at 8:00 pmARGH, he’s so edible. Whether he’s big or not, delicious!
October 28th, 2007 at 8:01 pmNOOOO! Put it back. I need Miles to be a baby still! …creepy? Eh!!!! Put it back!
October 28th, 2007 at 8:21 pmI can tell by the set of his jaw he definitely thinks he a grown up, big boy, MAN!
October 28th, 2007 at 9:49 pmHe was born while I was pregnant with my daughter… How did they get so big so fast?
October 28th, 2007 at 11:46 pmIn the same sinking boat. If my ALMOST 3yr old does not want to go to bed, he tells me, “Mama, I love you. Kisses.” He tells my husband, “Daddy I wanna watch Tigger Woods.”
October 29th, 2007 at 7:33 amstop him, stop him…although I say this from a mom point of view…I had a little trauma growing up because my mom would always say “why did you grow up, I didn’t give you premission”, and I would cry “It’s not my fault!”…oh well,…
