Kissing Cousins
December 26, 2007
I love these babies, both mine and those belonging to my niece. But can I just say that holy crap I forgot how tough 1 yr olds are. I know, how could I possibly forget. But I did. I did not forget, however, how delicious a 6 week old is. I gave up eating my Christmas dinner to hold this baby and kiss his soft feather hair.
At one point my husband looked over at me as both of these babies were crying and screaming and said, “Wow give me a three year old who won’t shut-up and a surly teenager any day.” I couldn’t agree more.

December 26th, 2007 at 4:53 pmIf only you could freeze that moment for a while.
My hardest year of parenting so far was when i had a one and a three-year-old. In hindsight, I should’ve gotten a job. Outside the home.
December 26th, 2007 at 6:23 pmMy sister brought her two-year-old grandson to visit a few months back.
I wanted to run and hide.
MAN! I have forgotten that level of energy. I have forgotten that level of baby-proofing.
I have forgotten everything I used to know about distraction and how to avoid two-year-old tantrums.
I don’t think I’ve ever been as exhausted as when they finally left.
After less than 48 hours.
