Dream
January 22, 2008
In the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr’s day we went to the appliance store, where all brands of appliances live together in peace.
I have a dream… that one day I will have a kitchen that doesn’t make me cry.

Oh my gosh! I would just love to have a kitchen like that, i think that is anybody’s dream kitchen! Of course your daughter looks like she has her doubts
January 22nd, 2008 at 9:34 amhahaha! me too! My dream is a long time coming though. Did you actually buy appliances, or just look?
January 22nd, 2008 at 9:52 amSounds like a fine way to spend the holiday.
January 22nd, 2008 at 9:59 amThat is kitchen porn and my dream stove. I would become a domestic cooking queen if I had that stove, I promise.
January 22nd, 2008 at 10:03 amOh- I am right there with ya on this dream!! I don’t limit myself to the kitchen though- I have a whole house dream. A girl can dream right?!
January 22nd, 2008 at 10:06 amI don’t know. Just looking at that oven and stove top makes me cry, just a little, at both the degree of my lust for it, and at the thought of the probable price tag.
BTW, I love the expression on your daughter’s face. It looks like she is tolerating you telling her to stand there for the picture. Probably not the case, that is just what I thought of when I saw her face.
January 22nd, 2008 at 10:11 amI love that stove!! My sister has that stove!!! She just recently built a house and her dentist husband gave her that stove as a surprise!! I am so jealous!!! Know I visit more so I can cook on it!! LOL!!
January 22nd, 2008 at 10:14 amI love your blog, I really do, and I’m not going to quit reading no matter what.
But.
I miss the days when you would actually write instead of just posting photos. Love the photos–don’t get me wrong–but I love hearing about your life and your thoughts. You’re fun and entertaining and I love to hear what’s going on with you. Please, when you DO have some time (which I know is scarce), please get back to writing a bit.
Thanks.
January 22nd, 2008 at 10:17 amI feel the pain of wanting a “real kitchen” we are currently without oven/stove… OR a dishwasher!!!!
dreaming of one day…
January 22nd, 2008 at 10:21 amWe have that Wolf stove top but with 6 burners
January 22nd, 2008 at 10:34 amLmao! Lord. You cheer my days up.
January 22nd, 2008 at 10:36 amI dream of Wolf appliances too. Unfortunately, my dreams were dashed I got lovely Kenmores from our local Sears Scratch and Dent store. But you can keep hope alive…
January 22nd, 2008 at 10:48 amWhat an AWESOME kitchen that would make!
January 22nd, 2008 at 10:52 amI love those fake kitchens! They’re so clean, so ready-to-use….
January 22nd, 2008 at 11:01 amI share your dream.
January 22nd, 2008 at 11:04 amYou and I have the same dream!!
January 22nd, 2008 at 11:18 amnot even out of happiness? i would cry for joy if i had a kitchen like that.
January 22nd, 2008 at 11:20 amYou will! And then when the house is just right and ready to enjoy, you will sell it.
And then you will move somewhere where it is warm AND you will have a house with a cool range. And you will cook crack dip for me and we will have margaritas. ;*)
January 22nd, 2008 at 11:31 amI feel your pain. Perhaps we shall overcome (one day)…
January 22nd, 2008 at 11:40 amFrom the look of that picture, that kitchen doesn’t exactly make her smile. However, I think I would marry that stove and throw the rest of the family to the curb. Oh how loves have changed since I was young.
January 22nd, 2008 at 11:47 amThat is perhaps the most beautiful stove I have ever seen. It’s bigger than my entire kitchen, but that is part of its beauty.
January 22nd, 2008 at 11:47 amThat stove? Is awesome!
January 22nd, 2008 at 11:49 amI share the same dream as you, Chris.
Oy.
January 22nd, 2008 at 12:17 pmMakes you want to move to the appliance store, doesn’t it?
January 22nd, 2008 at 12:18 pmNever! If those shiny appliances came into my house, some people around here would actually expect me to cook something. And with a smile!
January 22nd, 2008 at 12:34 pmYes, that would be a great dream to be part of!
January 22nd, 2008 at 12:36 pmLove, love, love that stove. BUT……..Imagine cleaning it. Yikes. I’d just look at it each day and use the microwave! Although, I suppose if I could afford that stove, I could afford a cleaning person as well.
January 22nd, 2008 at 12:46 pmThose are some huge ovens. Would you REALLY want a kitchen that doesn’t give you an excuse to burn anything?
January 22nd, 2008 at 12:46 pmPoor thing. She looks like she’d rather still be napping on the couch!
I *heart* that stove too.
January 22nd, 2008 at 12:58 pmIs it possible to love the red knobs on the stove that much? And side by side double ovens. *sigh*
January 22nd, 2008 at 1:21 pmPerhaps if all of us pool our money together and leave our children with our husbands we could all live in a nice house with our dream kitchen! Those stoves are pricey!
January 22nd, 2008 at 1:40 pmIt brings a tear to the eye, Chris.
January 22nd, 2008 at 1:40 pmOh so shiny and fabulous.
January 22nd, 2008 at 3:05 pmI covet that stove. What’s more, my husband covets that stove. When my mother was sick with cancer, and the entire family was sitting in the waiting room of the ICU, my husband and brother in-law were over in the corner pouring over a magazine with great interest. Finally, we became suspicious, and questioned what it was that was entertaining them so. They looked up sheepishly, and showed us the magazine cover: “Better Homes and Gardens.” They were looking at dream kitchens. Specifically, Wolf stoves, with the pretty red knobs.
I love your daughter’s face.
I babysat for the family of a general contractor for years (side tip - good way to get the work done quickly on your house, have your daughter be the link to the contractor getting out of his/her house). The things that the mom lived with boggled my mind. We always wrote phone messages in pencil on the drywall. She finally got a real sink rather than a big work sink when I got home from college. so, about 10 years later…
January 22nd, 2008 at 3:49 pmI cook like a demon 6 nights a week, plus a huge assortment of home baked/made/etc goods for gifts, etc. My parents bought me a pressure canner for my birthday last year, and didn’t understand how giddy it made me until they visited and I sent them home with canned green beans and corn.
Anyhow, point is, I am actually bringing my oven to its slow, eventual death. The electronics just don’t work as well as they should. It takes 3-4 tries to get it into broiler mode (it thinks you want the self-clean mode).
The husband has invoked the mighty Wolf name as a possible replacement. I’ve been giddy ever since.
Probably won’t be ordered until sometime this fall, but I look at pictures and sigh dreamily.
January 22nd, 2008 at 3:53 pmI LOVE that stove. I need that stove.
January 22nd, 2008 at 3:53 pmSo pretty.
January 22nd, 2008 at 4:06 pmI would like a kitchen like that too. The knobs would match my red Kitchenaid pans. How fun! But first I need a house big enough to put it in.
January 22nd, 2008 at 4:08 pmI love that someone called it kitchen porn….I have your same dream.
January 22nd, 2008 at 4:27 pmBut then you’d have to cook. And bake. Keep it all clean…….

January 22nd, 2008 at 5:16 pmThis is the best post I have read all week. While I am pressed up against all the political non-sense. This post cracked me up! Cracked me up!
January 22nd, 2008 at 6:50 pmWhat a great take on the holiday!
January 22nd, 2008 at 8:51 pmI have that dream too.
January 22nd, 2008 at 9:00 pmI’d chain myself to that double oven with the gas cooktop if I could.
January 22nd, 2008 at 9:16 pmChris says: I tried but they made me leave the store.
Holy crap I thought that was your kitchen when I first looked at this picture!
January 22nd, 2008 at 11:25 pmok, crazy lady.. you post some pics of your kitchen and then I’ll show you mine.
unless yours is a clay oven/fire pit in the back yard …. I WIN.
January 22nd, 2008 at 11:36 pm( Now, THAT’S kitchen porn …)
You know how some people “name” their houses - you know, “sea song” or “skyclouds” (they should really just cut to the chase and call them ” I have more money than you ” )– we gave ours a name (which I know you’ll appreciate) -
“overpriced fixxer upper”. 1/2 finished e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g- - it’s killing me. floors still unfinished, O my the list is long. Hey ! where are your new cabinets? I thought you had new stuff delivered ??? Show us show us … Well , show me because I have no life.
It is though, isn’t it? Middle aged home improvement porn.
oh my god, I just realized I’m almost middle aged.
I agree with the “kitchen porn” comments. LOL :::::::drool::::::::: Hope you don’t mind me peeking at your blog. I surfed in from someones blog. It’s a fun read.
