Fun for a Girl or a Boy
February 10, 2008
I couldn’t decide which photo I liked best today. This one which shows the joy of playing with the slinky, and gives a hint to how LOUD everything is in this house. Screaming, yelling, and pumping your fists in the air is the appropriate response for everything.
Or this one, which shows the truth behind sibling relationships.
If looks could kill. Don’t get on her bad side, just sayin’.

Oh dear - she is so not happy. And he’s oblivious.
February 10th, 2008 at 2:30 pmChris says: He isn’t oblivious. He is gloating.
That picture is a mirror image of my entire childhood. Now, we talk on the phone almost daily.
February 10th, 2008 at 2:48 pmI love how your kids are always barefoot!
February 10th, 2008 at 3:04 pmI was so that girl! We have similar photographic evidence and all I can say is he must have deserved it.
February 10th, 2008 at 3:17 pmI wish I could see the top of his head. I am sure there must be smoke curling off his scalp from the ferocity of that look!
February 10th, 2008 at 3:21 pmoh boy. I have one of those too.
My other favorite part is the way her toes curl over the edge of the step.
February 10th, 2008 at 3:40 pmI love it! Getting your slinky to go allllll the way down the stairs truly is a priceless sort of moment.
And the look on her face….oh man, I’m dyin’. ROTFLMHO!
February 10th, 2008 at 4:14 pmsame two kids?
February 10th, 2008 at 4:22 pmI just LOVE all of your photos!!! They are all so expressive, clear, good lighting. . .
February 10th, 2008 at 5:06 pmMy 6 year old looks just like that when she is cross(ed), and I’m afraid her next move in a similar situation would be to shove her brother down the stairs!
February 10th, 2008 at 5:21 pmeven her little toes look mad!
February 10th, 2008 at 5:30 pmGood to know my children are not the only barefeet children in winter. These pictures are priceless.
February 10th, 2008 at 6:09 pmWe can never get those slinky’s too work right. But my kids use Mardi Gras necklaces to have “races” down the wood stairs - they work better than the Slinky. Try it - it’s fun!
February 10th, 2008 at 6:52 pm“Screaming, yelling, and pumping your fists in the air is the appropriate response for everything.”
Even at 25 I still feel this way quite often!
Love the new cranberry apple zinger tea you bought? Scream! Yell! Fist pump!
February 10th, 2008 at 7:24 pmAced a midterm you were really stressed about? Scream! Yell! Fist pump!
Finally figured out how to watermark your pictures? Scream! Yell! Fist pump! Dance around the living room like a loon!
I second the emotion rendered by the sight of those pigs all curled up. Adorable.
Namaste.
February 10th, 2008 at 7:41 pmOh how many times I gave that exact same look to one of my older brothers. (being the only girl in the family) I know how she’s feeling
February 10th, 2008 at 7:58 pmThose are two perfect pictures! Love her expression!
February 10th, 2008 at 8:06 pmOh, yes- obviously gloating. A tiny smirk, on the side that she can’t see. Ah, family.
February 10th, 2008 at 9:05 pmYeah…he definitely is gloating. And there’s nothing she can do about it!
February 10th, 2008 at 9:07 pmI see that look coming from my 5yo almost daily, also directed at her older brother. Love how you captured it!
February 10th, 2008 at 9:21 pmOMG…to cute. I wouldn’t be able to choose just one either.
February 10th, 2008 at 10:32 pmOh I LOVE the look on little sisters face!! Priceless!
February 10th, 2008 at 10:40 pmPrincess Storm Cloud !
I so was that child.
February 10th, 2008 at 10:50 pmThese pictures remind me of what someone told me just this week:
“Some people are like slinkies–not good for very much, but you can’t help but laugh when you push them down the stairs.”
Looks like brother may be next!
Chris says: I love it!
February 10th, 2008 at 11:03 pmShe is just so adorable!
February 11th, 2008 at 2:32 amAny little girl who has six brothers is bound to give the stink-eye every once in a while!
Wow, this behavior looks all too familiar
I can so relate, even with the noise. Mine may be just a tad bit more muffled by the carpet in our house though.
February 11th, 2008 at 3:45 amIsn’t your house supposed to be cold ? The last 3 photos, they appears without socks or pants ! (lili from France)
Chris says: I guess they don’t think it is cold. They all refuse to wear their slippers or socks.
February 11th, 2008 at 5:34 amBoth those pics are great.
February 11th, 2008 at 7:38 amI love the barefoot kiddos. My kids never wear socks either no matter how cold or warm.
Somehow I think she’ll be able to hold her own against all her brothers..lol! I was the only girl too with 5 brothers. I know the look well.
February 11th, 2008 at 8:02 amThat’s too funny, Cha!
I was thinking that your daughter probably inherited the ability to glare like that, but from which parent? Hmmmm.
February 11th, 2008 at 8:07 amLove both of them! … I’ve been wondering for a while, why did you stop watermarking the pictures?
Chris says: Because I am lazy.
February 11th, 2008 at 8:45 amAww. Too fun.
I love your stairwell.
February 11th, 2008 at 9:36 amChris- Everyone seems to love your house (it is neat) but the stairwell comment, I mean, come on, it’s stairs ! Are you surprized at the number of comments on almost every photo of your home? I usally don’t really notice the background maybe because the real parts are so good.
February 11th, 2008 at 11:09 amYour family is so awesome!
February 11th, 2008 at 11:18 amThe first of many instances in her life of being seethingly angry while the male is totally oblivious to her ire . . . .
February 11th, 2008 at 12:00 pmI think this is the same “stink eye” I gave my four brothers in the morning when they invaded my cereal box wall at breakfast time. Wow. Good times.
February 11th, 2008 at 4:55 pmShe is a force to be reckoned with! Just waiting for revenge.
February 11th, 2008 at 5:39 pmI love these pictures. Our kids are loud and respond with fist pumps and hoots for nearly everything too. Another reason I love your blog.
I have a little something for you at my blog.

February 11th, 2008 at 6:08 pmWhere I live that is called “stink eye” and he is oblivious!
February 12th, 2008 at 1:14 amOh, good luck in the teen years. You’re gonna need it.
