Give In To The Peer Pressure
February 19, 2008
Miles will share with you. Whether or not you actually want to be shared with is beside the point.
“Here I have this chip I dipped in the hummus, licked off, and then redipped in the hummus. You want to eat it.”
The older brother protests. Leaning back as far as he can away from the offending chip.
Miles says, “I’ll show you. Just open your mouth like this.”
“Just open your mouth!”
Protests are futile. I am a three year old who will not be deterred. Your mother will not save you, she is too busy with her camera.
Everyone else chants, “EAT IT! EAT IT!” There may have even been banging on the table with fists for emphasis.
He is now ready for dorm life.
Or Fear Factor.
Or maybe another chip from Miles, the Great Sharer.

Oh, what a riot. I especially loved the part about being ready for dorm life. I want to have lunch with your children.
February 19th, 2008 at 6:53 pmoh yum- ABC food!
February 19th, 2008 at 6:59 pmI love to see them interacting with each other.
February 19th, 2008 at 7:20 pmCuuuute…. you live in a tiny frat house…
February 19th, 2008 at 7:28 pmThose pictures are awesome.
How fun.
February 19th, 2008 at 7:31 pmWell, maybe the flu (if it appears) will rampage through your house quickly, rather than drawing itself out over several weeks…
February 19th, 2008 at 7:32 pmOh, fear the great licked-off hummus chip! Fear thee!
My kids do the same exact stuff. I think they take classes on this kind of thing somewhere . . .
February 19th, 2008 at 7:39 pmAfter Miles, I like that son of yours the best! He is so cute, and I think he looks just like you!
February 19th, 2008 at 8:17 pmChris, I love these photos showing the brothers interacting with such joy on their faces…and the determination of Miles to achieve his goal. LOL about the Fear Factor comment. Your older son’s dimples are to-die-for. Tania in Australia
February 19th, 2008 at 8:37 pmNext lesson: how to chug large quantities of liquid in a small period of time. Miles will hold the hose for you while your siblings cheer you on.
February 19th, 2008 at 8:57 pmHow do you look at those dimples everyday and not just melt? I love the persistence of Miles, and your commentary.
“Your mother will not save you, she is too busy with her camera.”
February 19th, 2008 at 9:01 pmCould you just die in those dimples!?
February 19th, 2008 at 9:07 pm*sigh*
I love this story, photos and all! : )
February 19th, 2008 at 9:13 pmYes, Fear Factor indeed. You have got the most adorable children. I hope that one day my family will be as beautiful, fun and exciting as yours.
February 19th, 2008 at 9:19 pmThis is such a great series of photos…too funny!
February 19th, 2008 at 9:29 pmOh my god! The dimples!
February 19th, 2008 at 9:34 pmThat is hysterical! And I love “Your mother will not save you, she is too busy with her camera”
February 19th, 2008 at 9:40 pmAs someone who just discovered this blog, can I please say, if anyone needs a laugh refer to June 7, 2006. May 2006 as a whole, was frickin amazing. I told my coworkers to get on board with this blog today, and despite the fact that some didn’t even know what blogging was, I gave such rave reviews that somebody has got to check it out and I won’t be the only maniac laughing crazily at a computer.
Chris says: Thank you. Your check should arrive any day now.
February 19th, 2008 at 9:55 pmI feel bad now for putting a picture of my crying infant in my blog after watching your guys have so much fun together, for all to see!!
Great post!
February 19th, 2008 at 10:04 pmSooooo funny! I could almost hear the chanting…in fact, I wish I could have chanted along too! Too bad I have a total slobber phobia…*shiver*! I could just pinch those dimpled cheeks on your kiddos all day long. My three have them, too! Everytime I read your blog I think I want 7 kids too! (And then my three wake up!)
February 19th, 2008 at 10:15 pm“Whether or not you actually want to be shared with is beside the point.”
Aha! I think you just summed up the relationship my toddler has with her little sister. Miles and Thalia, separated at birth? (Now there’s a scary thought for all kinds of reasons.)
February 19th, 2008 at 10:24 pmNow that was funny! *S*
February 19th, 2008 at 10:54 pmLOL That’s hilarious!!
And those dimples are amazing!!
February 19th, 2008 at 11:20 pmI don’t believe they chanted. They were laughing too hard. How could they even speak?
I LOVE your blog. I’m one of 10 kids and sometimes you take back to my childhood. They are so lucky to have you, and each other. Now, and especially when they’re older. That side splitting, can’t talk or breathe, laughing………priceless.
February 19th, 2008 at 11:23 pmAhh… I think this was my favorite post yet. Especially since you captured it on camera. That Miles is one of a kind. And I love seeing all the boys together.
February 19th, 2008 at 11:24 pmI love that - so cute! Torturous, but cute!
February 19th, 2008 at 11:26 pmI wanted to comment and say “OMG. Those. Dimples.” But I see eleven or so others have beaten me to it. So I will simply mop my heart up off the floor.
But seriously, how do you stand it? How do you say no to him?
Chris says: Luckily I really don’t have to ever say no to that kid. He is such a good hearted soul. He is as close to perfect as one could ever hope to be.
February 19th, 2008 at 11:56 pmOh my, the dimples absolutely slay me! All of your kids are so cute!
February 20th, 2008 at 12:25 amFunny
Miles definitely RULES! He is a cutie.
It’s always great to come to your site … i can relate to almost everything you have to say. Thanks for sharing a part of your LIFE with us.

February 20th, 2008 at 12:31 amI love how the others joined in the fun by chanting “Eat it. Eat it.” That was a strong case of peer pressure.*grin*
February 20th, 2008 at 1:12 amWhen you got to the part where they were all chanting it “EAT IT, EAT IT”, I was totally thinking that your life with all those boys is probably similar to living in a frat house. Only with smaller and cuter occupants. And less beer.
February 20th, 2008 at 1:44 amYes June 7 2006 is funny but July 21, 2005 is the funniest blog entry ever written!
Two and 1/2 years later we can simply say “just call me the hole man” and everyone practically falls to the floor in laughter!
February 20th, 2008 at 3:01 amYour posts are especially delightful lately. You seem to be enjoying your kids even more than usual.
February 20th, 2008 at 3:59 am‘He is such a good hearted soul.’
It really does shine through in his photo’s -what a sweetie!
February 20th, 2008 at 5:02 amGreat pictures! Were they really chanting? I can almost hear them “Eat it! Eat it!”
February 20th, 2008 at 7:16 amLOL…. that is just like my boy. I always say no thanks but somehow end up eating his offerings anyway! Love the pics!
February 20th, 2008 at 9:39 amThey look like they are having a blast!
February 20th, 2008 at 9:47 amWhatever you do, don’t dare bring “pet” goldfish into the house. They won’t stand a chance.
February 20th, 2008 at 12:19 pmThe good news is, if he goes on Fear Factor, he may end up dating George Clooney.
February 20th, 2008 at 1:07 pmWith all those beautiful dimples in your household, I don’t know how you get anything done!
February 20th, 2008 at 2:18 pmOh my god the dimples I can’t stand the dimples…SO cute!!!
February 20th, 2008 at 3:57 pmThe dimples are fantastic.
February 20th, 2008 at 4:18 pmThat is the best laugh I’ve had ALL DAY!!!! Bless you all.
February 20th, 2008 at 7:34 pmI always enjoy your commentary!
Do your kids ever wear socks?
Chris says: No they don’t. They also refuse to wear their slippers, aside from my daughter who at least has a modicum of common sense. I told them recently that I am never wasting my money on slippers again.
February 20th, 2008 at 9:49 pmWow, what a nice brother. And those dimples? Oh how do you stand the cuteness!!!
February 20th, 2008 at 10:06 pmOh. migod.
February 21st, 2008 at 12:25 amCutest. kids. ever.
And I have 3 of my own.
that is the awesomest greeky triptych i have seen in maybe forever.
February 21st, 2008 at 2:57 amNothing better than seeing your kids getting along and having fun like that, well except having a camera handy to capture the moment. Awesome
February 21st, 2008 at 9:16 amThis happens a lot at my house, too. Except….with not many siblings, I’m the one my son gives his sloppy seconds to.
Sometimes, he even offers me a booger on a finger.
February 21st, 2008 at 11:29 amI love reading your blog! It so takes me back to my childhood (being the only girl out of 7 as well). I love the laughter.
February 21st, 2008 at 8:38 pmOh my lands, they are adorable! I can hear the laughter just by looking at these photos. My 3-year-old girl does the same thing to me…gross!
