Happy Birthday! What?! You didn’t torture him by putting a number 3 on his cake? You’re a much better mother than I. ;-)

Chris says: I sent Rob to the store to get the candle and specifically said get a 3. But he got all confused

  2. Liesl says:

Wow. It goes so fast. Just think, on his next “birthday” (leap year) he will be able to drive!

  3. Eva says:

He is very handsome - both as a baby and a 12 yr old! What day do you celebrate when it isn’t leap year? (the 28th or the 1st) Lucky you for a son like that and lucky him for a mom like you.

  4. Carolyn says:

Awww….what a handsome young man (for 3…heh, heh, heh). My daughter Alaina turns 12 on Fri. Lord help me now with 2 now in the midst of all those hormones…

Too funny how Rob got confused at the store! At least the 1+2=3, right? Is this your second oldest? Hubby and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary on leap day (16 years married - 2/29/92).

  18. Carolynn from Western Australia says:

Happy Birthday to you from Western Australia.

I always rememember my Mother saying ” They are not Babies long” and I used to wonder what was she talking about. I am a Midwife specialising in extremely preterm babies and I too say this to all our Mums as it is so very true. I have watched over the years colleagues have their children and before you know it they are getting married and having their own.

Time just seems to fly along, Please young one just turning 12 live for the moment please don’t wish your days or life away, it will have flown past before you get to know it. Cherish every moment you are given as you are only given each moment once.

    Take Care.
Lots of Love Carolynn xxxx :-)

  19. Susan says:

OMG I just love him. Happy birthday, Leap Kid.

  20. Jaime says:

Your birthday posts always bring tears to my eyes.

  21. Lena says:

That’s actually the first “leap year ” baby I’ve ever heard about.

But ,I Guess if you have 7 , it’s bound to happen. :)

I can’t even get a “mothers ring ” because all of mine were born in the summer.

It would be 2 rubies and some weird stone I can’t even remember.

    Happy Birthday!!!

12 is still sweet for a few more years. :)

  22. elizabeth says:

    Happy Birthday!
I have a 12 year old as of Feb 25th - was due March 2, arrived a bit early. Hubby wished for him to be born on the 29th - thinking we might save on birthday expenses. ;-)

  23. Maddy says:

Happy 3rd Birthday ha ha ha :) Sorry how many times did he hear that during the day?

  24. Maddy says:

OHHH and when he’s sweet sixteen he’ll be just 4! With all those brothers he’s going to be teased without mercy!

  25. Brigitte says:

Did any siblings get on his case for being “the youngest”?

  26. KarateMom says:

    Awww! What a handsome guy!
    Hppy Birthday!

  27. jody says:

    Happy Birthday dude!

  28. Nicole says:

  29. Tracy D says:

So, seriously, when do you celebrate on a normal, nonleap year? My DD was asking me this the other day. I said I guessed you just chose either the 28th or the 1st…. which do you do? Happy bday!! 12 is awesome.

  30. Cary says:

Is that Indiana Jones? He is the coolest!

Chris says: yes, it is Indiana Jones!

  31. Carola says:

    HAPPY B-DAY!!!!

  32. Karin says:

My dad was also a leap baby. He passed away almost 5 years ago. This year he would have celebrated his 17th actual birthday. God Bless you and your family.

Happy Birthday and congrats to you for being his mother for 12 years!

  36. carrie says:

    Happy Birthday!

He is exactly (almost, my son’s bday is March 1) one year older than mine!

  37. heidi says:

    this *blinking* thing….
i know the years go by SO fast. But the days… they sometimes last forever.

  38. Angie says:

You are so lucky to have a leap year baby! I was hoping for one this year, but, alas, it was not to be. What day does he usually celebrate his birthday? I hope it was happy!

  39. Sara says:

From one Leap Year baby (okay, I just had my “10th”, so maybe not so much a baby anymore) to another–Happy Birthday! Sorry to wish it late, but my computer, it was down…again. Anyway, we “leaps” know how to stretch a birthday out like no one else, so I’m sure he’s used to the whole “didn’t know when you celebrated, so…” conversation. Tell him the leap gets better each year. Enjoy!

  40. Steff says:

OMG 12…make sure and let me know how it goes…my 11yr old son seems to be having a challenging year with his identity, one day he wants to be 19 the next 6. Such a hard age ~ it seems.

  41. kate says:

    Happy Birthday!
