Ninth Birthday
March 30, 2008
We celebrated tonight.
I love this photo. It feels happy and loving. Like you could just pull up a chair and be let in on the laughter. I don’t even remember what was so funny.
This snapshot, this is how I hope they remember their childhood.

Beautiful!
March 30th, 2008 at 11:25 pmHappy 9th birthday, blonde one with big hair and dimples! This is what I have named him in my head.
March 30th, 2008 at 11:39 pmChris says: That is pretty much what we call him too.
oh that IS sweet! And I think you’ve echoed each and every mother’s secret wish.
March 30th, 2008 at 11:47 pmi’m betting you this IS how they remember it… well, it’s how i remember most of mine… 9 kids, parents who gave a damn…
March 31st, 2008 at 12:24 amI love how your family is all about making as much flame as possible on the cake, by just adding candles everywhere with no regard to the traditional number of candles = how old you are thing….at least as far as I can tell.
Chris says: We are all about using the entire box of candles
March 31st, 2008 at 12:58 amI wish that was how you remembered your childhood. Hell, I wish that was how I remembered mine! I know we mostly see the good parts here, but it sure seems like you’re doing a great job raising those kids.
March 31st, 2008 at 1:04 amAs soon as I saw this picture I was reminded of my childhood. You have captured the moment perfectly. Totally made me smile.

March 31st, 2008 at 7:07 amWhat a great shot — they all look so joyous.
We celebrated a 10th birthday at our house this week — I just put photos up on my blog as well ….. of the storebought cupcakes, with (are you ready for this?) lighted TOOTHPICKS on top because I forgot candles.
Yes, we are really that classy.
March 31st, 2008 at 7:09 amIt’s amazing how many birthdays you guys celebrate! It seems like every couple of weeks it’s somebody else’s birthday. That’s a good thing! More opportunity for cake . . . and laughter!
March 31st, 2008 at 7:14 amLooks like a good time was had by all.
March 31st, 2008 at 7:15 amHappy Birthday to the blond one.
LBC
I love that just your family alone makes an instant birthday party - no need to invite a bunch of OTHER people’s kids over and do a lot of fancy-schmancy stuff. This way makes for much better family memories, I think!
March 31st, 2008 at 7:20 amThat pictures says “Pull up a chair and join our laughter”. It’s lovely!!
March 31st, 2008 at 7:34 amI’m sure they will Chris, they have such loving parents and siblings. A happy and relaxed home and life, what more could any of us ask for.
March 31st, 2008 at 8:05 amWhy, oh why did I not find your blog earlier! Shame on me! And I’m on Work It, Mom! too…well, better late than never. That’s an amazing picture…perfect memories!
