The last few days are such a contrast. It seems like just last week that you guys were all snowed in and practically house bound. and now it looks like summer practically…..

  2. Gwen says:

I am so hoping my three year old doesn’t find that out for a couple of years. :)

  3. xianfern says:

I just jumped off a swing the other day! It was exhilarating.. and really stupid. ;)

  4. Jen says:

Great photo! I’m jealous, I would have had the worst blur ever!

  5. Heather's Garden says:

Your photo looks like it could be in a clothing catalog. What does his t-shirt say? Boy I remember being in good enough shape to jump of a swing — and having scrapped knees all summer.

Chris says: The funniest thing…his t-shirt says “Pavement Hurts”

  6. Annie says:

Yea- Spring is here!! That is a cool shot.

Is it me or does #5 have the exact same face as your daughter? They look so much alike to me!

Chris says: They do look very much alike.

  7. peepnroosmom says:

Wow, he is growing up so fast. It seems like last time I remember him he was crying over his dropped ice cream. That is him, right?
    Great action shot!

  8. Lorraine says:

My 7 year old just discovered this joy. Sadly, I had to actually encourage him to try as he’s not one to take risks. He’s more of a geek than a jock… He’d much rather play computer games. The swing set my mom gave us has been a God-send for getting the bunch of them to actually go outside.

  9. jody says:

    I love it!

Glad it is warm there now. Time to be barefoot!

  10. mary says:

    These are brilliant photos.

  11. Sara says:

Great catch on that photo, Chris. And truly, jumping off IS the best part of swinging.

  12. Growing in Grace (Nicole) says:

    Absolutely! Wonderful picture!

  13. Ruth H says:

I suppose you must get some bad action shots and just not post them, right? Otherwise I’m feeling very, very inadequate!
You have the best action shots, EVER. Not fair.

  14. mary says:

I love the look of concentration on his face!

  15. Jeanne says:

His babyface is GONE in this picture - he just looks so grown up. From a cute boy to a handsome young man in one jump. Great picture!

  16. Mrs. Schmitty says:

    Yes, yes it is!!

  17. Bekki says:

I’m sure you’ve answered this before..but do you mind sharing what type of camera you have? You really do take amazing photos.

Chris says: Thank you. It is a Nikon D40x.

  18. Norma says:

He’s a beautiful child, Chris. You really are so blessed with these kids!

  19. Dianna says:

My word you catch some incredible photos.

  20. Crystal says:

What a great photo!! I could have made my dd jump a hundred times (if she was old enough!) and still not gotten that shot! And if by some miracle the timing was right, it would have been blurry. I’m always so impressed with your pictures! I know you take a lot of bad ones, but I probably take 300 - 500 pictures a month and don’t get as many good ones as you! I’m so jealous! Enjoy the warm weather!

  21. melissa6 says:

hi chris…..changing the subject slightly, i just checked out “dooce” and your writing is sooooooo much better!! your style is so honest and touching.i have 6 kids myself from theages of 10 down to 4mths.you give me so much inspiration and maintain my sanity on the tough days!!!!!!

  22. Kerri Anne says:

    Oh, how I miss swinging.

  23. Joanne says:

I really don’t know how you capture such awesome pics.

  24. Kate, BunchaBlueEyedMonkeys says:

You take the best pictures ever. I’m putting the Nikon D40x on my wish list. And considering this is my first item on my first wish list ever, I have hope. Heh.
