Beach Party Attire

Beach Party Attire

June 6, 2008

beach party attire

bathing suit: check
waterproof shoes in the form of crocs: check
festive head gear: check
candy necklace: check

In spite of the clouds and the chilly temperatures we had our end of the (home)school year party. One of my friends just finished her first year of homeschooling her children. She marveled at how fast it had flown by. We all congratulated each other for making it through another year without going bald, you know from pulling our own hair out in frustration.

Though, to be fair, my friends who send their kids to regular school tell me they congratulate themselves for the very same thing.

What a cutie! Hope you all had fun.

  2. Brittany says:

so adorable. Congrats on making through this year!

  3. Mrs. Schmitty says:

    She’s all set…what a beauty!

  4. Not June Cleaver says:

Congrats on another year down. I love the bright colors!

You know for every single school mom who says “I could never do that” (regarding homeschooling) I can say the exact same thing back to them. If my kids were in school, I’d be bald for sure.

  5. Char says:

    She looks festive!

A friend of mine did a tropical themed end of (home)school party this year too but I was too exhausted to even contemplate the idea.

We plan on continuing through the summer on a light school schedule basically because I am insane already.

  6. Kathy says:

Yes, I often wonder where the school year went. And I think my one year of regular school was worse! I was never more ready for something to end.

  7. Alissa says:

tis true. and we’ve only just finished kindergarten.

  8. Becky says:

Wow - is it just me, or does it feel like just yesterday that you guys were buried in snow?! Now, it’s time for a swimming party! Wow.

  9. Sue @ My Party of 6 says:

She could not be more adorable!!!

  10. Pam says:

I am so envious that you were/are able to homeschool your kids. I don’t think I’m smart enough in all of the subjects to have taught my kids — they’d end up teaching me! And the hair thing? Yeah, my hair is short for a reason. (gushing, fawning, stalker moment — I love your blog, and the parenting and cooking ones, too — thanks for entertaining me every day!)

  11. Steph says:

Very beachy I love it!!!! Have a great weeeknd

  12. suburbancorrespondent says:

Candy necklace - got it. I knew I had forgotten something while I was getting ready for the pool today.

  13. Steph T. says:

Congrats! Yes, I understand both sides. I homeschooled our daughter for one year (8th grade), and I was so pleased that I was not bald! And this year, at public school (10th) I really am surprised I didn’t pluck out all my body hair too! Geeze! So, she’s going to homeschool herself during the summer for a couple classes (11th) and go in next year as a senior…please pray for us! LOL

Anyway, darling kids! I loved the candy necklace, I think I’d like to have one for myself. :)

    Enjoy your summer off!

  14. Ann from St. Peter MN says:

And those of us who sent our kids to regular school had a great party when it was the end of the summer and we could send them back to school! Funny how that works, huh? Enjoy your time off and I hope you can stay away from the baseball field for at least part of the summer!

  15. Carolyn says:

No, I’m not bald at the end of the (public) school year, but rather at the end of the summer. Actually, it usually takes about 3 weeks for UTTER boredom to hit them. Heaven forbid that they should actually get out on the acre lot we have and: play polish horseshoes, bocci ball, croquet, swing (set), use the bikes/rollerblades/scooters they had to have, the basketball hoop (which is currently down…thanks to our lovely straightline winds all night and morning). Yes…my poor deprived children. Guess I’ll have to make a list of summer chores to keep the boredom away. ;-D

  16. Rebecca says:

    She is adorable!

  17. Amy says:

Nice picture. I’m still playing with my camera to figure out what exactly your doing to get those results…. but that’s part of the fun:) We aren’t done homeschooling yet. We do our evalutaion next month.

  18. kelly says:

Love the colors, but my favorite part is her little skinned knees! I always had those too.

  19. Angie @ Many Little Blessings says:

She looks absolutely darling! We’ll have to remember to have a party at the end of our school year next year — it will be our first year of homeschooling.

  20. Lisa Lisa says:

Your little girl is too cute! Congratulations to us all for making it through the end of another school year. One day we will miss these days… just not today ;o)

  21. Leslie says:

What an adorable photo! Have a marvelous summer.

  22. Don't wear a jumper...ever! says:

Um…product reviews? Clothes of the day, with all your willing onlookers…I need some links if I’m going to promote your site.

  23. Cary says:

Did the boys demand candy necklaces and festive headgear too?

  24. kat says:

my close friends & i celebrate successful homeschooling every wednesday night. sometimes with, sometimes without - booze.

  25. Susan says:

That festive headgear would hide my bald spots nicely, methinks.

  26. Tricia says:

Methinks it was just snowing at your house…that was fast.

  27. Robin says:

Lucky you!!! We still have 2 weeks left!!!

  28. Carolynn from Western Australia says:

She is growing up so fast and gets prettier with each passing day.

I totally admire you for Home Shooling 7 kids and staying sane. CONGRATULATIONS>

Lot sof Love Carolynn xxx :-)

  29. michele says:

interesting - I always wondered if you homeschooled but hadn’t actually asked… we home school as well and have for a long time, in fact my oldest is starting college this fall, it is a good fit for us. Always fun to connect with other homeschoolers…should have known you were one…since you are so cool and all!

  30. Asianmommy says:

    I love those candy necklaces!

  31. Lori says:

This picture and the post are absolutely adorable! Thanks for sharing!

  32. wendy says:

I would love your take on Taylor Wilshire’s THE BOOK OF MOM. A perfect beach read that we read in our book club and all loved it.
