Tell Me How You Really Feel, Miles...

Bah Humbug.

Today we are trapped in the house in ANOTHER snow storm. We will be baking Christmas cookies all day long. Rob went to the grocery store last night and bought bags of sugar and enough butter to clog the arteries of a small country. We may just roll sticks of butter in sugar and call it a day.

Then we are going to decorate our Christmas tree. Well, after we put it up. Then tomorrow I am meeting my best friend for some power Christmas shopping, because as of right now I have two presents bought, both for the same child. I am not sure I could convince all my children that an Easy Bake Oven and cupcake maker were for all of them to share.

Then I will try to find my Christmas spirit. I think it is hiding in the shoe department at Macy’s.

I will have the Christmas spirit by Christmas, or die trying.

Haha, happy solstice to you too!

At least you are making me feel organized because I did do most of my christmas shopping by now. Never mind that I didn’t bake any cookies. I’ll take my ‘feeling better than others’ vibes wherever I can get them.

    Stupid snow!

    Karen

  27. Brigitte says:

Good luck with the shopping, and remember to pick up lots of GIFT BAGS so as not to have to wrap anything!

BTW, my daughter would totally go for sticks of butter rolled in sugar.

  28. halimah says:

When the Minion announced last night that there were 4 more days till Christmas I almost wept. I somehow keep forgetting (blocking) the holiday. It’s all the damn snow clogging my brain. I’ll have to pull it together today I guess. Bah Humbug indeed!

  29. jen@Balancing Beauty and Bedlam says:

I think you’ll find that spirit hiding somewhere in the clogged arteries section (if your hubby makes the cookies). by the end of our cookie baking time, I was ready to squeeze precious little necks….I wasn’t feeling the most wonderful time of the year thing. We got really goofed up with our fball interlude, didn’t we?

  30. suburbancorrespondent says:

Just hurry and get that shopping done before the next storm hits!

And, oh, are we ever jealous of your snow!

  31. jennielynn says:

BWahahahahahahahahahaha. That has got to be the most classic picture ever. Good luck with the Christmas hunt!

  32. Diana says:

Would love to hear a pre/post Christmas update on the Year Off project…

  33. Maggie says:

I’m guessing Miles doesn’t yet understand what “flipping the bird” actually means…

That will be a good one to show girlfriends down the road ;)

  34. Cate says:

I love the snow, but at the moment, I’m SICK of IT! It’s been snowing for over a week. The drifts in front of my house are higher than I’ve ever seen them. We were doing a snow dance so our ski resort would have snow. Okay, the gods got it. We’re good now. Seriously, turn it OFF!

    Love the snowed in PNW!

  35. Paula says:

I believe that Disney will PAY for that picture… I LOVE IT!! It will forever be known as that “picture of Miles in the ears flipping the bird…” ahhhhh memories of childhood.

My Christmas Spirit was discovered at the Coach outlet in Lee, Ma… under a sign that said “take 50% off”…

    Amen.

  36. kat says:

oh i think that photo should be your xmas card!

thanks for making me crave butter rolled in sugar.
    ~peace.

  37. Annalise says:

What’s not to like about an easy bake oven? Best. Toy. Ever. They can all share it - and use it to cook Christmas dinner with! xx

  38. Jen says:

Hope you manage to escape the snow for some seasonal retail therapy :) Merry Christmas to you all of you. xx

  39. maria says:

I feel like you should be on my Christmas card list. I read your blog almost every day and feel like I know your family. I hope you find your Christmas spirit and have a wonderful holiday season. Thank you for sharing your family with us - I learn a lot from you and your perspective. Merry merry Christmas

  40. gwendomama says:

    WAY to go.

I did go scrounging for my holiday spirit - found it right between the sugar and vanilla beans in my cupboard.
Now if I can just make it last til after the father of my children hauls his arse out of bed and pulls some cheer out of his…………..

  41. Heidi says:

That picture is PRICELESS!! I think we all feel that way some days!
