Oh The Places I Write
January 6, 2009
I told someone earlier today that I think I am finally out from under the holidays. I think I have finally caught up on everything. Or else given up prioritized.
Over at Work It, Mom! The ultimate 1970’s comfort food — the Tuna Casserole.
So grab your Screwdriver, the drink not the tool, and embrace the casserole and the era.
Remember I went to Disney World in December? I know that I barely do. I have been meaning to write about it, if only for myself so that I don’t forget about it.
Over at BlogHer, I have a post up today with tips on stopping the gimmees at Disney World. This is part 2 in the series. (Part One is here.)
Miles just came over to me and asked if I would read him a book. I hesitated for a second thinking of all of the tings I still have left to do, let out a reluctant sigh, and said, “Sure. You go pick out a book. I’ll be right there.”
He started cheering and then said, “I am going to pick out a book with a beautiful girl with long beautiful hair. Just like you!”
Awwww, how can I say no that. Especially after one of my children said to me yesterday that he was going up to his room so that he wouldn’t have to look at my ugly face anymore. If I had any advice for parents of babies and toddlers out there it would be to not let them grow up. Just don’t allow it. The End.

Hey Chris,
January 6th, 2009 at 5:02 pmStruggling to find your BlogHer post. Any chance of a direct link? Many thanks!
I for one am excited to hear all about Disney World!
January 6th, 2009 at 5:19 pmProvide the link to the BlogHer bit, please Chris!
We’re considering our first Disney World visit this year…
Oh, and my little guy has already been told to stop.freaking.growing.already. Great advice!
January 6th, 2009 at 5:24 pmOh, great. NOW you tell me - 16 years too late! Oops. Just remembered - you were a mere babe yourself back then… But at least the advice about the Screwdriver and Tuna Casserole is just in time!
January 6th, 2009 at 5:42 pmOMG!! I know those days are coming for me but Oh Lord, I just quake.
January 6th, 2009 at 5:45 pmMine are 13, 10 and 7.
Awww. I sat down with my 4 yo and read a Hot Wheels book he got for Christmas. Mind-numbingly stupid, but it is so rare when I have time to sit and read one of his books for him. I guess we don’t have any books with beautiful girls with long beautiful hair in our house LOL.
January 6th, 2009 at 5:50 pmHa! Just gave that same advice to my friends after dropping my son off at university. Letting kids grow up is just a terrible idea…
January 6th, 2009 at 5:50 pmcan you put a link to your piece on blogher? that site is such a mess to navigate through.

January 6th, 2009 at 6:32 pmYou always bring back so many memories to me:)
Last night we had 2 of our grandsons over for dinner.. 3 and 18 months..
I love that when there is no one else but my husband and them..we become their universe for a few moments in time.
When their daddy picked them up last night..I sad :”Don’t you wish you could keep them just like this??”
I love them to bits..just like this.
I can just tell how much they love us.
There is not another name for myself that I like better than Nana.
I always feel like the pretty girl with the long blonde hair when I am in their presence:)
January 6th, 2009 at 6:40 pmCan you post a link to your blog her post? I can’t find it. Thanks!
January 6th, 2009 at 6:41 pmOh, man. PLEASE tell me how you handle hearing things like that from your older kids. It terrifies me! See, I have this unhealthy need for approval and love…I’ll definitely work on not letting my little ones grow up. Or…I’ll just keep having babies all the live long day to continue being loved and needed.
January 6th, 2009 at 6:52 pmI’ve been trying but she still keeps growing. Dammit, I can’t seem to stop it.
January 6th, 2009 at 7:33 pmOMG SarahLynne! That’s exactly what Michelle Duggar said 18 babies ago! lol
January 6th, 2009 at 8:10 pmAAAAAHHHHHHHGGGGGGGHHHHHH! I can’t find your blog!
January 6th, 2009 at 8:24 pmI wish my son would always stay my baby, I never was one of those mom’s who couldn’t wait till they to left home.
But now the greatest gift God has blessed us with is our grand daughter, it is difficult to explain the Love you have as a grandmother(Nonna)! Just by your life stories I know that you will be given that chance one day, and you will experience the love of your grandchildren and you will never want them to leave either, hopefully yours will closer to home then mine~
January 6th, 2009 at 8:25 pmI heard from one of my friends that the sole purpose in having more children was to keep a toddler around always to buffet her from the slings and arrows of the older ones’ cruelties…not sure when she will stop having babies though…
January 6th, 2009 at 9:03 pmI am a child of the 70’s and I absolutely ADORE Tuna Noodle Casserole…NOT one of my family will eat it. I would love to have just a little bite!! I think it looks scrumptious!
January 6th, 2009 at 10:46 pmThanks for the recipe - my husband and I were just talking this weekend about tuna casserole. Oh, the memories! So, I decided to make it for dinner tonight - much to the chagrin of my oldest child. He is otherwise known as ‘He-whose-food-cannot-touch’. He’s practically turning green at the gills… and I am getting such pleasure out of it. Is that wrong???
January 6th, 2009 at 10:59 pmI never knew tuna casserole could look so delish!
January 7th, 2009 at 3:24 amI LOVE tuna casserole. My mom made it all the time too, except she crumbled up potato chips and put them on top. I skip that step when I make mine. Only one of my 6 kids will eat it, of course he is known as the human garbage disposal so I don’t really think he cares what it tastes like!
January 7th, 2009 at 3:34 amThank you Chris
Haven’t been brave enough to consider Disney yet - but my kids are a little bit young for it yet. But I am certainly looking forward to it, so long as I can persuade my husband!
January 7th, 2009 at 12:24 pmWow. I need to hear that sometimes. That babies and toddlers really are the easy ones. Even though sometimes they are sooo not easy.
January 7th, 2009 at 3:04 pmI have been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for 16 years, and if I ever fall off that wagon, it will be for tuna casserole. I can almost taste it…
January 8th, 2009 at 12:16 pmGreat photo. Now I am very hungry.
