Rowing
Only thirteen days in and I forget. Ooops.
I love this little painting my 8 yr old son made. So much so that I taped it to my refrigerator. Anyone who knows me knows that this is something that NEVER happens in my house. I like to keep the front of my appliances clutter free, the way the good lord intends them.
Lately I have felt like the faceless rower in the painting. Frantically rowing, trying to get somewhere, but only seeing where I have already been.
Kind of thinking the rowing is an awful lot of work and that maybe I should just stop and look around for awhile. Or at the very least get some longer oars that actually reach the damn water.

Well, now you’ve gotten the forgetting out of the way!
If you find a good source for extra-long oars, send the info my way. I think they may be just what I need.

January 14th, 2009 at 11:30 amLove the artwork — and I, too, am hard-pressed to put anything on the fridge. I caved and designated the outward side, which is now buried under various papers and masterpieces. Really enjoy your “photo-a-day” project. It has inspired me to haul my camera around with me and be more aware of everyday life around me. Thanks!
January 14th, 2009 at 11:57 amOh I hear ya. Frame it! That’s a keeper!
January 14th, 2009 at 12:17 pmYou may not need longer oars if the bigger than earth sun doesn’t melt you. Too cute!
January 14th, 2009 at 12:20 pmNeed me some longer oars, me too…
January 14th, 2009 at 12:35 pmThat’s why I decided to go on a short photo safari around one of our lakes today - housework, paperwork and other work be d*mned!
I go along with Karen Sugarpants. Frame it. It’s adorable!
January 14th, 2009 at 2:21 pmRowing a sport dear to my heart. Keep in mind that a rower never really sees where she’s going only where she’s been.

I wish I had that sort of simplicity. I always make things too haaaaaard. Getting lost in the details is never as fun as it sounds. L’sigh.
January 14th, 2009 at 2:43 pmI’m having one of those weeks, months who am I kidding YEARS!!
January 14th, 2009 at 3:41 pmI’m hoping to make some progress this year in my life. And man the longer oars would help!! Or at least a husband that doesn’t travel 3 days aweek
OMG your last sentence made me lose it! That struck my funnybone just right. Thanks for the laugh Chris!
January 14th, 2009 at 4:10 pmLooks like you are about to row into a water fall. It could be worse, you could have a bucket in your hand!
January 14th, 2009 at 4:33 pmAnd perhaps not paddle upstream?
January 14th, 2009 at 4:42 pmI never thought of that aspect of rowing - probably because I’ve only ever rowed on a machine and I can see the screen in front of me telling me how far I’ve gone!
January 14th, 2009 at 4:54 pmAlso, stay away from waterfalls…
January 14th, 2009 at 5:04 pmOhmygosh..I just took such similar photos of 2 of my grandsons..:)
January 14th, 2009 at 8:56 pmYou must be rubbing off on me:)
I took them last week..and even had them printed today!
I would love to see photos of myself coloring at that age having had no real links to my youth since my parents passed when I was 19.
I hope one day my grandsons see them and have a glimpse of what they meant to me.
