Day 31, 32, and 33
February 3, 2009
I take the photos. It is the uploading and posting of the the photos that bogs me down.
The end of the month is always hard for me. Making all my work deadlines. The ones I meant to keep on top of all month long, but somehow did not. I spend the last week of every month stressed out, working constantly, and vowing to change the next month.
Of course the 1st of the month comes along and I am wiped out and take an entire week to recover. And there begins the vicious circle known as the life of a working at home mother. Yes, I am generalizing. It makes me feel better.
I took this photo in the car the other day, my daughter holding her head to show her unbelievable disgust at having a mother who would not immediately drive over to the nearest big store and buy her the Pixie Fairy game for her DS that she so obviously needs.
Someone call child protective services on me.
(kidding don’t really do that)
I did buy her an on clearance Christmas dress that she wanted. The bright colors and polka dots against the gloomy backdrop make me smile. The endless twirling too.
She is always ready should she suddenly get an invite to a party. She is the fashionista of the 5 yr old set.
Every so often the sun pops out and the sky turns from grey to blue. The colors seem brighter against the white snow than they have in a long, long time. And winter looks like it does in movies.
Then it turns grey and snows some more. And I cry big fat tears. No, not really.
But only because they would freeze inside of my tear ducts.
Ah, winter. Snowflakes that stay on your nose and eyelashes are cold.

February 3rd, 2009 at 8:13 pmIt’s always nice to have something new to twirl, right? Even in the snow.

February 3rd, 2009 at 10:16 pmGeez, those photos are beautiful. It’s not snowing in Missouri, and it’s supposed to be 60 degrees this weekend, will you come teach me how to take pictures? With an old point and shoot?
No, I can’t pay your way. (But it’ll be 60 degrees!)
February 3rd, 2009 at 10:34 pmI swear, it snows everywhere but here.

February 4th, 2009 at 12:08 amLove the last pic!
February 4th, 2009 at 12:12 amWhat fantastic shots. I love your Daughters new dress, so bright and colourful.
Hey, how about you send me tons of that lovely Cold White Stuff and I’ll send you over our Sunshine and the temps to go with it. These past couple of weeks have been in the high 30’s and low 40’s Degree Centigrade that is. !!!!
I know where you are coming from when you promise yourself not to let yourself get behind in the paper work. I’ve recently done the same, updated all of our accounts and promised myself to keep them up to date. I’ll let you know how I do, I do however have one distinct advantage over you however as regards getting interrupted, I have no children.
Well having said that I must go and do our 2007 - 2008 Taxes organised and get them ready for the accountant.
Take care
February 4th, 2009 at 12:47 amLots of Love Carolynn
great pics! what kind of camera do you use? i’m in the process of shopping for one…
February 4th, 2009 at 12:57 amAh, deadlines. I know the feeling. Only my deadlines are all the time, all month long. But I only have two kids. So I guess we’re even.
The pictures are beautiful, as always.
February 4th, 2009 at 4:35 ambeautiful photos!
February 4th, 2009 at 4:50 amand you’re right - the one of her in her GORGEOUS coat & dress looks very movie-winter
There are few things prettier than snowflakes on tendrils. That’s postcard material shot right there.
February 4th, 2009 at 7:15 amMerry Winter!
Gorgeous images. I LOVE the last one in particular.
Hang in there.
February 4th, 2009 at 8:48 amI love the hand on the head. Amazing how dramatic they can be at 5…believe me I know.
February 4th, 2009 at 1:23 pmI *love* this series! I also love the dress - it is indeed VERY cheery. Just what we need to chase away the winter blahs.
February 4th, 2009 at 1:40 pmwow….that last ones belongs in a magazine.
February 4th, 2009 at 1:54 pmLove the dress! And those photos are super gorgeous.
February 4th, 2009 at 6:10 pmLove the photos especially the “I can’t believe you won’t…” photo at the start, the dress and the SNOW! We have just emerged (we hope) from the sort of heatwave that kills 50 y.o. trees. Snow is stuff you drive 5 hours to see and we’re more used to skiing on slush than powder when we get there. Your photos make sense of a whole lot of Northern Hemisphere-set childhood books!
February 4th, 2009 at 6:53 pmmy gosh I love that last one!!!
wow
February 4th, 2009 at 7:54 pmUm - can I point out a few things?
- you have seven children
- you home school them
- you work from home
- you cook healthy meals
- your house is in a state where it can be photographed (and your pantry? I want it)
You’re a supermom/superwoman. I could never do all that you do and I am so impressed by you all the time.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:58 amJust so you know. And stop getting frustrated by your catch up at month end.
Photos are awesome. Love the dress.
Those pictures are captivating!
February 5th, 2009 at 1:32 pmI also love the last one! Beautiful snowflakes!
February 5th, 2009 at 5:22 pmShe really always does look like she should be on the cover of a fahion mag.
February 5th, 2009 at 8:07 pmI love all of these photos, but especially the one with the boots. The Boots! She is absolutely a fashionista. And at 5? Oh my….look out world!
February 5th, 2009 at 9:17 pmI too have a little fashionista… After an entire winter of me trying to convince her that she needed to at LEAST wear jeans under her dress or something, I am giving up for spring and only buying dresses galore!
February 6th, 2009 at 3:46 amOnce again, I totally relate (well, not totally as I only have 2 small children, 2 blogs & my house is a mess) …AND the photos are fantastic! Makes me want to convince my boy to put on a dress for Mama. Hey, he might just do it!
