What is it about children and trees? Such joy. Our boys used to climb to the top of the white pines in our yard (at least 3 stories high). I learned not to look.
Those live oak trees are good for climbing. However, we are being buried under their tiny little leaves right now. We have a huge one in our front yard. I think at one time someone had put a Halloween decoration in a knot hole. The hole has subsequently closed around it. Now it is a small greenish hand with black fingernails sticking out of the side of my tree. It’s a great conversation piece.
Wow! I used to love climbing trees! Sadly, I have faux baby trees in my subdivision. Snappy little saplings aren’t so great for climbing. (Momma Mockingbird isn’t so happy with the girlies trying, either.) Wonder if I still have it in me?
Well, I don’t know about the rest of you guys, but that makes me nervous, because it looks like a trip to the emergency room waiting to happen. I hope they both got down in one piece!
I just wanted to welcome you to Texas! I have been reading your blog for about 3+ years and have NEVER commented. But being as you are now in Austin and I live in the Houston area, we are practically neighbors! I found your blog by googling blogs of large families. (We have 4 and would love more) Anyway, hope you enjoy it here!
looks like that scene from the Sound of Music, minus the guitar slinging nanny…
