Doesn’t he looked thrilled?

It is weird but cutting off the hair has made him age a few years.

    Handsome!

  2. kimberly/tippytoes says:

At first I thought the before was the after. That’s what Texas calls long hair? Yeesh.

Chris says: The first photo doesn’t really show how long his hair was for some reason, but yeah we weren’t talking super LONG hair at all.

  3. Alissa says:

holy good gravy… he does look older!

  4. Melody says:

He does look older- and he looks really good! The girls will notice the change too. ;)

  5. Rebekah says:

He looks so grown up and handsome. I think guys look better with short hair anyways.

  6. Katherine says:

You’re right, he does look older with the shorter hair. It’s got to be hard cutting that amazing wavy hair.

  7. Karen says:

    It does indeed.

  8. Holly says:

Dude, he looks like a grown up human.

  9. BetteJo says:

    OMG he DOES look older!

  10. tammy says:

Tell him I said he looks way more cooler now.

and i was thinking it would be a cut like football. remember that cut.

    Go get them oldest child

Chris you must be so proud of him. Even if he does have the teen tude going on.

  11. hennifer says:

Your comment on the previous post made me laugh, re: the hair and Texas. Ever seen Dazed and Confused??? :-)

It is strange how dramatically a hair cut can alter appearances

  12. Ann says:

How will you ever keep all the girls away?

  13. Bronnie says:

aww I like his shaggy hair look. very rock star. the things one must do for sports…

  14. Kate h says:

Just console him by letting him know that he looks like Tom Cruise in Top Gun - chicks dig that look. Especially when coupled with dimples.

  15. Woman with Kids says:

Holy cow, that’s considered long hair?? Boy 1 and his friends have the ’skater’ hair, just long enough to almost hide their eyes. He does look older. …makes you want to glue the hair back on, doesn’t it?

  16. Melanie says:

My son grew his hair long in December of 2007 (he is the same age as your son) and when he finally cut it, he looked older too. Would you mind telling me why he is going to high school next year? We homeschooled our son in 5 & 6 grade and now that he is going into 10th, we are going to homeschool him again. We are moving in Oct. and he decided that he would just go back in January after we get moved and settled. I was just wondering why he was going back to school. I also want you to blog about your photography. I love it. Every picture turns out so pretty.

  17. Beverly says:

Oh my goodness! He looks so handsome…and old!

I wish my baseball loving son would let his hair grow a bit…

  18. Lilly says:

I sure don’t see what the length of your hair has to do with being on a team. I liked his pretty long hair.

  19. Corey says:

Looks like a completely different kid. Maybe partly because of the sun glasses. I can’t believe the coach thought that his hair was long! It looks normal to me.

  20. ChristieNY says:

Looks great! Congrats on him making the team! ;)

  21. Fina says:

wow, he let you take his picture??

  22. Lisa says:

What a difference! I agree he did age a few years. Such a handsome young man!

  23. Anna says:

OMG…he looks like such a TEENAGER now! And also, WOW, your kids are cuties.

  24. Joy H says:

    1) His hair wasn’t that long @@
    2) He is really handsome
    3) I can’t get “sign says Long, Haired Freaky People Need Not Apply” lyrics out of my head. Now I hope it is stuck in yours.

  25. Obi-Mom Kenobi says:

He does look quite a bit older with short hair. I’m determined to keep Padawan Learner’s locks shaggy now!

  26. Courtenay says:

my son is like that about socks. SOCKS. he’s 9. he will have full-on meltdowns if the socks don’t feel exactly right, w/ heel placement, toe alignment, etc.

  27. Mary says:

    LOVE the dimples!! :)

  28. Old bird says:

I can’t believe anyone thought his hair was long before. But it is true he looks much older now.

He went from really cute boy to seriously handsome young man in a matter of hours. You can expect to see more changes in his demeanor as he realizes how his looks have changed. It’s a good thing.

  29. Jeri says:

What a looker! What did you have to bribe him with for him to agree to have is picture taken for everyone to see?

    You make beautiful kids, Chris.

  30. Lauren says:

I love all your kids dimples! All of their smiles are so infectious because of them :)

  31. Damsel says:

I know I keep saying this, but, seriously, HOW do you not just drown in the cuteness that is dimple-dom at your house???

  32. ronee.malama says:

Gosh..you and your husband make some handsome, and adorable, looking kids! I think less hair makes him look taller!
    xoxo
    ronee

  33. Karen (from Our Deer Baby) says:

He looks great, but I am amazed about how they considered this ‘long hair’ Oh well. At least they gave you blog fodder, how considerate of them^^

    Karen

  34. Ruth H says:

Everyone under 30 looks like a young kid to me. I really don’t think he looks older. But he is a cool dude. I bet both my granddaughters would think so, too. I’m glad he let you post his pics.

  35. Monica says:

I am so using your son as to geta poster child to get my son to cut his hair. My son’s hair is longer than your son’s and his idea of a hair cut is your sons version of long hair!

He is a handsome boy, good luck with that and with the girls that come!

  36. Annie says:

He does look older! What a cute boy! (young man.. whatever)

  37. Shannon says:

So how are all the kids adjusting to the move? Are they all pretty happy with it?

  38. terilynn says:

I am NOT letting my girls see this picture (I have three teen girls) - we don’t live far enough away from you!!

  39. Nicole says:

Isn’t it a perk that the haircut ages him a few years? I thought everyone under 18 wants to look older. Or is that so totally 20 years ago?

  40. Momma Chaos says:

Wow he grew up with one hair cut!

  41. tari donohue says:

Somebody looks like their dad! Boy, days like yours bring back memories. . .

  42. Kathy says:

I love it! He looks great! Such a handsome boy. My older son looks terribly old with shorter hair also.

  43. Katherine says:

Your kids are all so good-looking. I’m glad you had 7, as the world needs more beauty!

  44. peepnroosmom says:

    Handsome guy!
Was it his idea or your? My 14 yr old looks like a sheepdog. He looks at the world through a little hole of hair. But then, so does every single teenager at his school. They have universal haircuts. Exactly the same.

  45. PamS says:

Very handsome, much more grown up … and when my son had his long hair (and I do mean long - like to his shoulders) he actually looked taller. Seriously.

Your son’s hair wasn’t that long! That coach was silly!

Oh and where do you get those dimples? You must be getting them via mail order since all of your kids have them … I’d like to order a pair!!!!

  46. PamS says:

I meant to say that when my son had his long hair CUT he looked taller.

    Proofreading is an important thing!

  47. Tiff says:

My MIL (a mom of many sons) always said a fresh haircut improved the attitude of a boy. I thought she was crazy. As a mom of many boys myself, I must now agree it is true. Whenever I notice an ongoing vibe of ‘tude, the barberchair is the next stop. Amazing how it helps.

  48. Katie in MA says:

WOW. I love him with long hair, but he pulls off the short ‘do quite nicely! Have any of the other boys talked about following suit? Please tell Miles and the 10-yr-old (I think he’s the 10-yr-old…The Miles Look-Alike) that cutting their hair is Against The Rules. Seriously.

  49. Clare says:

He has grown up with his hair cut! He is the same age my DH and I were when we first started dating. I won’t tell you what we got up to, lol Cause if you are like me, you want your children to stay little as long as possible, and children do not have boy and girlfriends!
My oldest is 9 and I am already getting grey hairs about the coming years.
