Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow
May 15, 2009
The Before, a few weeks ago.
Doesn’t he looked thrilled?
It is weird but cutting off the hair has made him age a few years.

Handsome!
May 15th, 2009 at 6:00 pmAt first I thought the before was the after. That’s what Texas calls long hair? Yeesh.
Chris says: The first photo doesn’t really show how long his hair was for some reason, but yeah we weren’t talking super LONG hair at all.
May 15th, 2009 at 6:02 pmholy good gravy… he does look older!
May 15th, 2009 at 6:06 pmHe does look older- and he looks really good! The girls will notice the change too.
May 15th, 2009 at 6:32 pmHe looks so grown up and handsome. I think guys look better with short hair anyways.
May 15th, 2009 at 6:32 pmYou’re right, he does look older with the shorter hair. It’s got to be hard cutting that amazing wavy hair.
May 15th, 2009 at 6:36 pmIt does indeed.
May 15th, 2009 at 6:42 pmDude, he looks like a grown up human.
May 15th, 2009 at 6:54 pmOMG he DOES look older!
May 15th, 2009 at 7:13 pmTell him I said he looks way more cooler now.
and i was thinking it would be a cut like football. remember that cut.
Go get them oldest child
Chris you must be so proud of him. Even if he does have the teen tude going on.
May 15th, 2009 at 7:16 pmYour comment on the previous post made me laugh, re: the hair and Texas. Ever seen Dazed and Confused???
It is strange how dramatically a hair cut can alter appearances
May 15th, 2009 at 7:16 pmHow will you ever keep all the girls away?
May 15th, 2009 at 7:19 pmaww I like his shaggy hair look. very rock star. the things one must do for sports…
May 15th, 2009 at 7:29 pmJust console him by letting him know that he looks like Tom Cruise in Top Gun - chicks dig that look. Especially when coupled with dimples.
May 15th, 2009 at 7:43 pmHoly cow, that’s considered long hair?? Boy 1 and his friends have the ’skater’ hair, just long enough to almost hide their eyes. He does look older. …makes you want to glue the hair back on, doesn’t it?
May 15th, 2009 at 8:04 pmMy son grew his hair long in December of 2007 (he is the same age as your son) and when he finally cut it, he looked older too. Would you mind telling me why he is going to high school next year? We homeschooled our son in 5 & 6 grade and now that he is going into 10th, we are going to homeschool him again. We are moving in Oct. and he decided that he would just go back in January after we get moved and settled. I was just wondering why he was going back to school. I also want you to blog about your photography. I love it. Every picture turns out so pretty.
May 15th, 2009 at 8:05 pmOh my goodness! He looks so handsome…and old!
I wish my baseball loving son would let his hair grow a bit…
May 15th, 2009 at 8:36 pmI sure don’t see what the length of your hair has to do with being on a team. I liked his pretty long hair.
May 15th, 2009 at 9:02 pmLooks like a completely different kid. Maybe partly because of the sun glasses. I can’t believe the coach thought that his hair was long! It looks normal to me.
May 15th, 2009 at 9:02 pmLooks great! Congrats on him making the team!
May 15th, 2009 at 9:05 pmwow, he let you take his picture??
May 15th, 2009 at 9:25 pmWhat a difference! I agree he did age a few years. Such a handsome young man!
May 15th, 2009 at 9:39 pmOMG…he looks like such a TEENAGER now! And also, WOW, your kids are cuties.
May 15th, 2009 at 10:24 pm1) His hair wasn’t that long @@
May 15th, 2009 at 11:27 pm2) He is really handsome
3) I can’t get “sign says Long, Haired Freaky People Need Not Apply” lyrics out of my head. Now I hope it is stuck in yours.
He does look quite a bit older with short hair. I’m determined to keep Padawan Learner’s locks shaggy now!
May 16th, 2009 at 12:11 ammy son is like that about socks. SOCKS. he’s 9. he will have full-on meltdowns if the socks don’t feel exactly right, w/ heel placement, toe alignment, etc.
god.help.us.all.
May 16th, 2009 at 12:39 amLOVE the dimples!!
May 16th, 2009 at 12:54 amI can’t believe anyone thought his hair was long before. But it is true he looks much older now.
He went from really cute boy to seriously handsome young man in a matter of hours. You can expect to see more changes in his demeanor as he realizes how his looks have changed. It’s a good thing.
May 16th, 2009 at 2:00 amWhat a looker! What did you have to bribe him with for him to agree to have is picture taken for everyone to see?
You make beautiful kids, Chris.
May 16th, 2009 at 4:23 amI love all your kids dimples! All of their smiles are so infectious because of them
May 16th, 2009 at 7:39 amI know I keep saying this, but, seriously, HOW do you not just drown in the cuteness that is dimple-dom at your house???
May 16th, 2009 at 7:59 amGosh..you and your husband make some handsome, and adorable, looking kids! I think less hair makes him look taller!
May 16th, 2009 at 8:14 amxoxo
ronee
He looks great, but I am amazed about how they considered this ‘long hair’ Oh well. At least they gave you blog fodder, how considerate of them^^

May 16th, 2009 at 8:41 amEveryone under 30 looks like a young kid to me. I really don’t think he looks older. But he is a cool dude. I bet both my granddaughters would think so, too. I’m glad he let you post his pics.
May 16th, 2009 at 9:18 amI am so using your son as to geta poster child to get my son to cut his hair. My son’s hair is longer than your son’s and his idea of a hair cut is your sons version of long hair!
He is a handsome boy, good luck with that and with the girls that come!
May 16th, 2009 at 10:20 amHe does look older! What a cute boy! (young man.. whatever)
May 16th, 2009 at 12:50 pmSo how are all the kids adjusting to the move? Are they all pretty happy with it?
May 16th, 2009 at 4:25 pmI am NOT letting my girls see this picture (I have three teen girls) - we don’t live far enough away from you!!
May 16th, 2009 at 7:51 pmIsn’t it a perk that the haircut ages him a few years? I thought everyone under 18 wants to look older. Or is that so totally 20 years ago?
May 16th, 2009 at 10:19 pmWow he grew up with one hair cut!
May 16th, 2009 at 10:32 pmSomebody looks like their dad! Boy, days like yours bring back memories. . .
May 16th, 2009 at 11:17 pmI love it! He looks great! Such a handsome boy. My older son looks terribly old with shorter hair also.
May 17th, 2009 at 12:31 amYour kids are all so good-looking. I’m glad you had 7, as the world needs more beauty!
May 17th, 2009 at 2:20 pmHandsome guy!
May 17th, 2009 at 9:08 pmWas it his idea or your? My 14 yr old looks like a sheepdog. He looks at the world through a little hole of hair. But then, so does every single teenager at his school. They have universal haircuts. Exactly the same.
Very handsome, much more grown up … and when my son had his long hair (and I do mean long - like to his shoulders) he actually looked taller. Seriously.
Your son’s hair wasn’t that long! That coach was silly!
Oh and where do you get those dimples? You must be getting them via mail order since all of your kids have them … I’d like to order a pair!!!!
May 18th, 2009 at 6:02 amI meant to say that when my son had his long hair CUT he looked taller.
Proofreading is an important thing!
May 18th, 2009 at 6:03 amMy MIL (a mom of many sons) always said a fresh haircut improved the attitude of a boy. I thought she was crazy. As a mom of many boys myself, I must now agree it is true. Whenever I notice an ongoing vibe of ‘tude, the barberchair is the next stop. Amazing how it helps.
May 18th, 2009 at 9:55 amWOW. I love him with long hair, but he pulls off the short ‘do quite nicely! Have any of the other boys talked about following suit? Please tell Miles and the 10-yr-old (I think he’s the 10-yr-old…The Miles Look-Alike) that cutting their hair is Against The Rules. Seriously.
May 18th, 2009 at 12:57 pmHe has grown up with his hair cut! He is the same age my DH and I were when we first started dating. I won’t tell you what we got up to, lol Cause if you are like me, you want your children to stay little as long as possible, and children do not have boy and girlfriends!
May 19th, 2009 at 12:36 amMy oldest is 9 and I am already getting grey hairs about the coming years.
