*drooling*
*wondering if I can run out for some berries while the kids are napping, or if that’s considered negligent behavior*
Strawberry shortcake? Is a thing of perfection.
June 2nd, 2009 at 3:36 pmSeriously, Chris. :o)
June 2nd, 2009 at 3:39 pmMouth watering. Must have. Need to make. BRB
June 2nd, 2009 at 3:51 pmOMG — I don’t even like strawberries and that looks delicious.
June 2nd, 2009 at 3:58 pmThat makes life worth living! Yum.
June 2nd, 2009 at 4:07 pmGeorgous and yummy! Thanks for the inspiration. I’m headed to the farmer’s market in the a.m.
June 2nd, 2009 at 4:18 pmYum, yum, yum. In my adult version of these, I soak the strawberries in some Grand Marnier for a few hours.
Chris says: I can’t believe I never thought of that.
June 2nd, 2009 at 4:19 pmwould you believe that in a household of 5, I am the only one who will eat these?
My kids like their sugar artificially sweetened, but their fruits and veggies plain.
June 2nd, 2009 at 4:54 pmI want your pretty plates!
June 2nd, 2009 at 5:37 pmOh come ON now. That’s unfair to taunt me with that picture when I’m fresh out of strawberries and can’t make it until at least tomorrow.
June 2nd, 2009 at 6:09 pmThat looks so YUMMY!
June 2nd, 2009 at 7:37 pmMy grandmother grew up on and raised her children on a farm. One night, every summer, she would serve strawberry shortcake, and nothing else, for dinner. A child’s dream!!
And thank you for promoting biscuits rather than angel food cake or pound cake–biscuits are the ONLY way to go!
June 2nd, 2009 at 7:39 pmSo my OB just gave me high-five yesterday for only gaining three pounds this month. Guess next month will be different. THANKS A LOT, CHRIS.
Chris says: It’s for the baby. THINK OF THE BABY.
June 2nd, 2009 at 9:08 pmI made these tonight and wowed everyone! Thanks for the recipe.
June 2nd, 2009 at 10:14 pmOK, now that you are in Texas, skip the cream and put on a dollop or 2 of Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla …. heavenly!
If you are looking for a day trip for the summer, you ought to go to Brenham Texas and take a tour of the Ice Cream Factory there, great for the kids! I just took a group of 6 - 8 graders there a few weeks ago!
June 2nd, 2009 at 10:17 pmi just want to know where your plate came from. LOVE!
Chris says: They were a present a very long time ago.
June 2nd, 2009 at 10:34 pmToo funny, Chris! I went to the grocery store on the way home from baseball tonight. I got strawberries and thought about making shortcakes sometime this week. You must have ESP. I mistakenly picked up half and half though, instead of cream. Will have to go back!
I soak my strawberries in a tiny bit of balsamic with the sugar. It adds a little something to it. Delicious!
June 3rd, 2009 at 12:04 amomg!! that has made my mouth salivate way too much… must make!
June 3rd, 2009 at 2:24 amYum! I make the Bisquick and Redi-Whip version, but it’s still just as good. I wish strawberries were this cheap all year!
June 3rd, 2009 at 10:27 amI LOVE shortcakes; never liked those icky little sponge cakes. When my sister gives me fresh peaches I make peach shortcakes. YUM!

June 3rd, 2009 at 1:11 pmI want this so badly right now. My favourite part is the whipped cream though. I am like my 5 year old.
