The Wishing Well
November 9, 2009
Last week we went shopping and in the middle of the shopping center there is a big wishing well. After restraining Miles from flinging his body into the water to get the money, I explained to him that you throw coins in and make a wish.
He threw the first couple of pennies in without wishing for anything.
Miles, you have to say what you wish for. Like Mommy wishes she had a big cup of coffee!
Okay, I wish for coffee!
Miles, LOOK! Your wish came true!
I turned around and pointed to the Starbuck’s behind us.
Miles stomped his foot.
Arrrrrgh. I should have wished for a dog!

You know what I wish? That you would go read my latest post over at WIM where I write about my adventures in cooking fish for my family. Perhaps adventure is too strong of a word, but there is a recipe that you will totally want to make for your family.

what you should be doing, is seeing about getting your children into acting! They are extremely attrative children. Each child is just breath taking. I know I don’t have to tell you, how LUCKY you are to have such wonderful children! Thanks for sharing them…
November 9th, 2009 at 3:41 pmCan’t believe still in shorts and t-shirts. Well, I can, but it’s snowing here.
November 9th, 2009 at 4:16 pmcrocs????
Chris says: No, even worse they are the $1 knock-offs from that store I HATE and pretend I never shop at.
November 9th, 2009 at 4:20 pmI always smile when I see you feature Miles photos on here. While all of your children are incredible beautiful I have a soft spot for your youngest due to the wide variety of facial expressions he has for any given event. He makes my day every time I see him on here and I just wanted to thank you for that.
Also, being a born and bred New Englander I love fish. But I have never eaten anything like what you posted. I can’t wait to go home and try it out.
November 9th, 2009 at 7:27 pmI know this isn’t related….but I LOVE your recipe for mac and cheese. It is now a staple in our house. I am very proud of it! I am in a meal group and this month it is my dish to make and freeze for four other friends. Thanks! I will give your fish recipe a try too.
November 9th, 2009 at 7:56 pmPut in a link for WIM…I don’t know where to find it. Thanks!
Chris says: There is a hyperlink!
November 9th, 2009 at 8:20 pmAre you enjoying having warm weather in November or do you miss the weather where you were in CT?
Chris says: I do not miss the weather in CT one little bit.
November 9th, 2009 at 8:35 pmSo cute! What a little surfer boy!
November 9th, 2009 at 10:20 pmwe dream of your weather, we are in PA. Already snowed here this year.
Miles is adorable.
November 9th, 2009 at 10:21 pmSorry to say, but having seen loads of photos of your sons, that they look like girls with that hair! Especially that last photo in the post today. Some people like to make fun of mom’s who do that to their kids ala’ Kate Hudson and her son. . .
And I’m from California!
Chris says: People can make fun of me all they want, I don’t care. I like Miles’ hair. The other two boys want their hair long, as do almost all of their friends. My oldest three sons all have very short hair, again their choice. Whatever. It is just hair.
November 9th, 2009 at 11:56 pmThank you for shopping at bath and Body works:-) It keeps my DSL on!
November 10th, 2009 at 1:57 amAt the very least, the knock-off crocs are color-coordinated with the wishing well.
November 10th, 2009 at 3:24 amThis reminded me of an old post about sharing a wishbone, when your daughter wanted a puppy and Miles wanted a bike, and he won and offered her his wish. Shame he wasn’t so happy about sharing his wish with you this time!
November 10th, 2009 at 6:19 amHe still looks little standing up there on the wishing well. Off to read the fish recipe…
November 10th, 2009 at 6:49 amYou can also use a can (or for YOUR family, twelve!) of Durkee French Fried Onions. Yes, the same ones you use in French’s Green Bean Casserole! Whir them in the food processor or blender til crumbly then put on top of your Treasures of The Sea and broil. Yummy!
November 10th, 2009 at 8:00 amHey! I have those same knock offs….only in a pink camo kind of pattern. My progeny refuse to be seen with me when I wear them.
November 10th, 2009 at 9:45 amHow do you get to your other blogs?
November 10th, 2009 at 11:00 amwelcome back we missed you. i went over to your fish posting and although i do not like fish i did find the chicken crockpot receipe. i will be trying that one out.
Oldest son was released from restrictions by esm yesterday and will be making a trip to nationals in dec as part of the 8th grade all-star team. thanks for the info and the support
November 10th, 2009 at 11:24 amAdorable!!!!
November 10th, 2009 at 4:20 pmNow that Miles has realized the true potential of wishing wells, fountains, etc., you are so in for it. My three-year-old recently had a wish come true after throwing in a penny at a local Chinese restaurant and now it’s all over. From her car seat, she has pinpointed every Chinese restaurant in a 30-mile radius. She insists on teriyaki and spicy green beans continuously. I tell you–it’s a like a curse.
November 10th, 2009 at 4:48 pmMiles is looking like such a Big Kid all of a sudden! Do you do a double take when you see him sometimes?
If I promise to clicky-clicky on your WIM link, will you PLEASE tell us the Crazy Neighbor Story?
November 10th, 2009 at 5:54 pmWhatever!!!!!!
November 10th, 2009 at 7:53 pmMiles is looking more and more like your other blond-haired son (don’t know his name).
