I’m guessing each kid had their own gingerbread house this year.
December 14th, 2009 at 12:36 pmMy Christmas tree is downsized. My husband hates artificial trees but I like the convenience. Several years ago I talked him into getting a 10′ lighted tree. It took me 3 days to trim it. Up the ladder, down the ladder, on and on. So last year we left off one section and had an 8′ tree. Still up the ladder, just not so much. This year I had knee surgery a month ago and I am not about to climb a ladder, so the tree is my height, 5′. No ladder, I guess I’m a slow learner.
Okay, is there a link? Those would be perfect for my little guys and much more appealing to Mom!
Love it.
December 14th, 2009 at 12:46 pmThat is so cute!
December 14th, 2009 at 12:49 pmOMG, this is the cutest little thing LOL.
December 14th, 2009 at 1:01 pmWe made ours out of graham crackers last night instead of homemade ginger bread. Some years are like that.
December 14th, 2009 at 1:26 pmAhhhh…that’s too cute! Even as an adult, I don’t think I have enough patience to decorate a large gingerbread house. That is just my size!
December 14th, 2009 at 1:41 pmWould love to see the pattern for that house. I think it’s just the right size for a small project
December 14th, 2009 at 1:42 pmThat gingerbread house is TOO ADORABLE! Did all the kids make one this year? You could make an entire town!
December 14th, 2009 at 1:59 pmCUTE!
December 14th, 2009 at 2:36 pmThanks for that, I needed the chuckle.
December 14th, 2009 at 2:59 pmMmmm….it looks like packed brown sugar.
December 14th, 2009 at 3:21 pmHa! Gingerbread shacks….lol.
December 14th, 2009 at 3:21 pmHope Miles had a great birthday!
December 14th, 2009 at 3:24 pmAll the better to eat them then. Only three noms needed. Nom, nom, nom. All gone.
December 14th, 2009 at 3:41 pmI’ve missed your blogging almost daily. I can imagine how busy you are though. That is possibly the cutest gingerbread house that I’ve ever seen!! I love miniatures
December 14th, 2009 at 4:33 pmYum! Looks like someone had fun - surely its not gluten-free gingerbread??
December 14th, 2009 at 4:50 pmpainfully cute!!!
December 14th, 2009 at 5:34 pmgreat idea for large family gingerbreading, my uber competitive mind goes immediately to CONTEST!!…would love to know what the house part is made out of…thanks. lib
December 14th, 2009 at 5:43 pmStill, absolutely ADORABLE! We “Elf-ed” our family room with snowflakes, cheap and beautiful!
December 14th, 2009 at 5:58 pmFond memories of the year that I brought home a gingerbread house one of my students made for me. A day later I noticed it had been nibbled on and thought it was one of my children. I scolded them and told them to leave it alone so we could all enjoy it. The next morning I was having coffee when the real culprit–A MOUSE–made his rapid retreat from his nibbling!
December 14th, 2009 at 7:24 pmThis so perfectly illustrates how I feel about the holiday this year. I’m finding it difficult to muster the energy to drag out the decorations when we can’t afford much celebrating this year. How are you dealing with that?
December 14th, 2009 at 7:51 pmthose are adorable!! we did the same thing and i think my kids enjoyed it even more getting to decorate their own!!
December 14th, 2009 at 8:47 pmWish I had your will power. I am a Christmas sucker at heart!
December 14th, 2009 at 8:59 pmHere come the payments…..
That is ADORABLE! Is it from a kit?
December 14th, 2009 at 10:29 pmOur tree is 3.5 feet tall this year. No joke. But hey- at least we have one!
December 14th, 2009 at 10:58 pmAdorable! Where did you get the teeny, tiny detailed pieces? And what type of cookie did you use? I would love to try these out this year
December 14th, 2009 at 11:19 pmChris, I’d like to do these with my two girls. Can you tell me how you did them? My girls saw the pictures and are enchanted!
Chris says: It was a little kit I grabbed at the grocery store that cost $1. It also tasted like crap according to the kids.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:18 amThat looks like a much more doable project than a huge gingerbread house. I like that idea, crappy economy or not.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:38 amI love your caption. I guess sometimes size doesn’t matter.
At least your creation looks like what it’s intended to be. My train (http://ironicmom.com/2009/12/07/gingerbread-house/) has been likened to an outhouse, a Flintstones’ car, and a tractor. Therein lies my culinary talents.
Downsized or not, Happy Holidays!
December 15th, 2009 at 1:20 pmMy son and I made that house!! The Candy-Cane cottage?
December 15th, 2009 at 10:48 pmtrue story.
December 16th, 2009 at 12:28 amI was just thinking of you - my 3 y.o. and I made our first gingerbread house today following your directions. Thanks again for sharing them, glad I finally got up the gumption to try it. My son looooved it.
December 16th, 2009 at 8:59 pmHaha
Chris,
Before I read your “tasted like crap” I thought that cookie on the bottom looked like a doggy biscuit. That would really be roughing it.
Merry Christmas and a peaceful better 2010!!
December 16th, 2009 at 10:31 pmChris,
December 18th, 2009 at 10:17 amEverything you do is cute! Love it! We have adopted your tradition of making gingerbread houses on New Year’s Eve. The kids are talking about making blueprints for them. Oy! Love the photo and appreciate all the inspiration you send our way!
