Monkey Bars of Life
January 23, 2010
All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on.
– Havelock Ellis
Sometimes it is difficult to get the courage.
But I can’t let go, Mommy.
Maybe I will just hang here. I am good at hanging.
You can do it!
But how do I let go?
Just reach out, baby. Let go and reach out.
But what if I fall?
I did it! I did it!
Yes, you did!
Now what do I do?
You do it all over again.
And maybe when you get down you zip your fly. Ok?

January 23rd, 2010 at 11:23 pmJust Adorable , open fly and all! But may I be so nosey to ask why the long hair as of late? I know the shaggy hair is in and since all your sons all have various hair lengths I am guessing you let them decide their own individual style.Having 4 son myself I do understand. But I am curious how the conversation of Miles current style happen in Miles world and your feelings on it.I am not hating just curious.
January 24th, 2010 at 12:03 amI know you get it ALL THE TIME, but man, that is one cute kid…the dimples alone put him over the top. If he was mine, he’d get away with almost anything just by flashing the dimples…
January 24th, 2010 at 12:30 amAdorable!
January 24th, 2010 at 3:53 amLetting go and holding on…It strikes me that monkey bars are good practice for life!

January 24th, 2010 at 7:34 pmI had noticed the unzipped shorts, so funny
January 24th, 2010 at 10:18 pmYour “little” guy is too munchable!
I just want to help across the bars and pinch those adorable dimples!
yeah for Miles!
January 24th, 2010 at 10:34 pmWe had a beutiful cool, crisp, sunny day here in Houston too. So how are you enjoying Texas winters? Do you or the family miss the snow just a little bit?
January 25th, 2010 at 12:16 amHa! Hopefully he gets the hang of that fly-thing pretty soon.
My poor baby, all the monkey bars around here are so high I can’t even lift her to them, and she’d fall about 4 feet. Were Miles’ bars shorter, or was it just the camera perspective?
January 25th, 2010 at 8:30 amMy little guy isn’t the only one who forgets to zip up his fly? LOL.
January 25th, 2010 at 10:15 amCute pics.

January 25th, 2010 at 11:41 amLOL… too cute.
January 25th, 2010 at 12:33 pmOh to be little kids and able to celebrate all the little things. Like me running 3 miles for the first time ever on Friday! WOOT! Oh, wait…this is about Miles. WAY TO GO, MILES!!!
January 25th, 2010 at 4:28 pmMiles is adorable Miles . . . brave to learn to let go, dimples galore, striped shirt with plaid shorts he picked out and put on all by himself . . . fly waiting to zip up . . . wouldn’t have him any other way!
January 26th, 2010 at 1:34 pmThat baby of yours. Sigh. He’s so adorable.
January 26th, 2010 at 6:56 pmI remember when I used to teach my daughter how to play in the monkey bars (yes, I had to will them up to play). She’d never let go unless she was sure i was grabbing a part of her clothes. Makes you look to the future when they grow up and eventually, they’ll want you to get off their backs. Nice post! Great pics too.
January 27th, 2010 at 4:26 pmOh (snort, giggle) that is too adorable. And zip? fly? that’s optional, no?
February 1st, 2010 at 11:49 amYour son is adorable. And I love the quote you chose. So true!
