  1. Sherry says:

    That last part looks painful.

  2. Viki says:

No offense but that’s just pitiful LOL. I bet you all miss the snow if even only a little.

  3. allmycke says:

We’re in the midst of a snowstorm and right now I’d welcome a truckload of sand on the hallway floor rather than the pile of snow I have outside my windows!

  4. Keyona says:

I want to live with you….

  5. ellen says:

That’s exactly how we do them in Florida!

  6. sherry says:

That’s cute! My kids do that in the summer when they miss the snow. Of course, it’s late January in Montreal so now they take their shovel and pail sets outside and build castles because they miss the summer and sand.

  7. Jeanette says:

Looks amazingly like Georgia snow angels!

  8. Lilly says:

Love it! How did she get that awesome bruise on her knee? She reminds me of Pippi Longstocking here. Not the clothes but the missing tooth, bruises and free to get dirty attitude.

Chris says: It actually wasn’t a bruise. It was all red and dirty from kneeling in the sand playing.

  9. Emily in IL says:

well, that’s one way to exfoliate!

  10. Katie in MA says:

LOL - love her goofy face in the last one. Was she getting squicked out by the sand?

  11. Lisa Lisa says:

This is hilarious! Love it! I’m in California so I have the best of both sand and snow :)

  12. Jennie says:

It’s supposed to actually snow in Fort Worth on Friday, so maybe you can make two versions in the same week! Texas is so weird.

  13. edj says:

You let her wear socks in the sand? Ewww!
    And yes, she’s adorable.

Chris says: They are her feet and her socks, so I don’t really care. Now *I* wouldn’t go in sand wearing socks.

  14. Adriana says:

    Looks like it hurts!

  15. Ruth H says:

So much fun! Love those tomboy knees.

  16. Jen says:

    Love the gappy teeth ;)

Tell me - are the kids missing the snow? (I can guess you aren’t!)

  17. Amanda says:

Sorry, but when I first saw this I really couldn’t help but giggle! It’s just not the same without the puffy legs and sleeves of winter clothes. After I was done laughing, I wanted to cry, because I would much rather be there, than here in the frozen tundra! :)

  18. Heather's Garden says:

Love the missing tooth! Hating you and your warm weather right about now.

  19. Aisha says:

Did she lose one of her front teeth? I feel weird for noticing, but there’s something distinctive about that type of shadow/gapping… :)

  20. Blake says:

I liked it better when you were suffering in the cold along with the rest of us, lol. Shorts! Really, come on!!! We are expecting a “significant” amount of snow on Friday. The news casters will not say how much and I think it is because it would cause riots in the food stores over the last loves of bread and milk.

  21. Xangelle says:

I love this. I especially love the no shoes part. These pics makes me think of my own childhood.

  22. Mylene says:

The look on her face is priceless! My guess is that the feel of a sandy “snow angel” is not quite so nice and soft as the regular variety. On the plus side she won’t have to exfoliate for a while ;)

Chris says: On the contrary, I think the sand feels much better than the freezing snow!

  23. Bramble says:

I totally love these! Welcome to this hot, steamy, sandy, humid state.

  24. PY says:

    The Singaporean style too!

  25. Brigitte says:

Aww, she’s losing her baby teeth! Hope she doesn’t have to wait as long for the tooth fairy as some of her brothers did. ;-)

Don’t you find that kind of “snow” nearly impossible to wash out of a girl’s hair? I hate when mine gets that “snow angel” urge on the beach. But I don’t stop her, how often are you 5?

  26. susie says:

Just as much fun, but much less cold than snow. BTW: Love the missing front teeth age. :)

  27. tammy says:

As the flakes are flying here in CT and the temps are dropping quickley I check your site and smile and wish can’t we all make snow angels in the sand in shirt sleeves please.

  28. Brandi says:

I love it! The look on her face is just great!

  29. Jenny says:

Aren’t you anticipating cold winter is around the corner but it never comes? I’m envious of you all still wearing short sleeves!!!

  30. jen says:

    gday chris,

    just a quickie

links to thae french toast thingy dont work…..it looks soooooo good. can you fix em please :)

    jen :)

  31. Melanie says:

I would much rather be making those than the snow kind:) I just moved from Florida to a suburb of Cincy and I am sick of the snow. Already….and we haven’t really had a ton of it yet.

  32. speckledpup says:

when you don’t write everyday I just figure CPS has picked you up, shuffled the chirrens off to 7 different foster homes and dear husband has come home to a jar of fake lemons and the remote all to himself.
    It makes me chuckle…
    Hope all is well.
Did I ever tell you my dad bit a fake pear once?

  33. KG says:

Poor thing looks like she is in so much pain. “Keep going. Who cares about the shells ripping up your skin! I have blog this!!!! It’s blogging GOLD!” haha I’m joking. Very cute.

Chris says: There were no shells. It was a volleyball court. It was probably filled with cat pee since it seems like a it would be a litter box meccafor all the cats in the area.

  34. Mary says:

I HAD to comment…because I love doing this when I am in Florida…..and everyone always laughs. I am glad to have a partner in crime.

  35. Evan says:

I guess there are angels everywhere if we look hard enough. LOL.

  36. Mrs. Pickles says:

I grew up in California — how is it that I never thought to do this at the beach?!? Next time I am visiting my parents I am TOTALLY going to do this, sand in the ears and all.
