My Girl
April 22, 2010
I bought her this little necklace for her birthday yesterday.
I can’t even wrap my head around the fact that my daughter has turned seven years old. JUST. CAN’T. DO. IT.

She shares her birthday with my mom and Queen Elisabeth. Isn’t that something!
April 22nd, 2010 at 3:49 pmWow, I have been reading for a long time. I think I remember when she was three.
April 22nd, 2010 at 4:10 pmHappy 7th Birthday to your sweet girl, that’s a lovely necklace.

April 22nd, 2010 at 4:10 pmToday is my baby’s 11th birthday, I can’t believe how big he has grown…he brings me so much happiness!
Birthday’s rock
That’s so cute! Tell us where you got it.
April 22nd, 2010 at 4:35 pm7 is a great age for girls. I had a lot of fun with my girl at that age. Now she’s 13. I’m still having a great time, but it is interspersed with a lot more moodiness, let me tell you.
Happy birthday, beautiful girl. Congrats, Chris. Your family is so gorgeous.
April 22nd, 2010 at 4:56 pmI know exactly how you feel . . . only now-a-days I’m having those feelings about my grandchildren, 15, 12, 10, 9 and 9 . . . life is a’flying by way to fast.
April 22nd, 2010 at 5:06 pmSo sweet… time does fly, doesn’t it?
April 22nd, 2010 at 5:06 pmHappy Birthday, Daughter Dear! My baby girl just turned 4 the day before yours…and my twin daughters turned 7 last month. Seven is too darn big!! Enough already!!
April 22nd, 2010 at 5:28 pmIsn’t that weird? Mine turned seven this week too, and it just sounds so much OLDER than six. Love the necklace - pretty.
April 22nd, 2010 at 5:31 pmM turns 13 in a week. She was the little two year old that climbed into my lap at a housewarming party of friends of my parents, where I knew no one. She picked me, and set off 11 years of babysitting for three families that I adore, that made me part of their family, ten children who were in my wedding and are my biggest fan club, some of whom I have known since birth.
All I did when she turned 12 was cry. I have no idea what 13 is going to do to me.
April 22nd, 2010 at 5:52 pmAwwww - what a sweet necklace for such a sweet girl! Happy 7th birthday to her!!
P.S. Hang in there, Chris - it only gets worse. My daughter turns 14 next week!
April 22nd, 2010 at 6:00 pmThat’s so cute. Is it a drawing that has been shrunk down to a postage size square?
April 22nd, 2010 at 6:22 pmEek! the years are truly speeding up…
April 22nd, 2010 at 7:15 pmHappy Birthday to the one and only! Hope it’s a sweet day!
April 22nd, 2010 at 7:45 pmMy goodness, I still remember her crying when you were all trying to sing her Happy Birthday! How old was she then?
Chris says: She was turning three
April 22nd, 2010 at 8:02 pmWhere did you find that precious necklace? My granddaughter will be seven in August. She is our baby with older brothers soon turning 11 & 9. I can’t believe how fast they are growing up.
She would love that necklace…
Chris says: Believe it or not, I found the necklace at the Hallmark store. It was on clearance for around $5.
April 22nd, 2010 at 8:24 pmMaybe you miscounted and she really is only six still ^^
Happy birthday to her!
Karen
April 22nd, 2010 at 9:06 pmSeven does seem a lot older than six. Always. With every kid.
April 22nd, 2010 at 10:52 pmAw, I know. I have four boys and one daughter, who turns 9 years old in a couple of weeks. I mourn her lost little-ness way too often. She is starting to stretch long and is spending too much time looking at herself in the mirror.
April 23rd, 2010 at 12:55 amMy girl just turned 13…funny because I have a post in my drafts about her titled My Girl as well. As you know, Your Girl will be 13 before you know it.
April 23rd, 2010 at 1:28 amMy Son turned one yesterday! It went by lightening fast. I guess it keeps speeding by huh?
April 23rd, 2010 at 1:42 amHappy Birthday to your little (getting older)girl!
Gah! My eldest children (twins) turned 16 yesterday. I still can’t/don’t want to believe it. Today is a new day. They are 16 and one day and I still can’t believe it.
In fact, if I wasn’t breastfeeding, there would be alcohol involved to get me through. And lots of it.
Heh.
April 23rd, 2010 at 4:16 amOh, and Happy Birthday to your gorgeous girl!
April 23rd, 2010 at 4:22 amHappy (late) birthday to your daughter. The two of you are so lucky to have each other.
Her mother’s love shows in that lovely girl.
April 23rd, 2010 at 4:23 amIt would take me a couple days, sometimes weeks for me to “catch up” to their birthdays.
April 23rd, 2010 at 5:14 amAnd what a beautiful 7 year old she makes!! Time flies by!!
April 23rd, 2010 at 9:35 amTell me about it - my oldest is turning 6 on Monday. How the heck do I have a 6 year old?!
April 23rd, 2010 at 11:46 amTime goes faster when they are bigger for some reason. Happy Birthday sweet girls! (it’s just as much mom’s birthday since you did all the work that day).
April 23rd, 2010 at 5:43 pmI always rememeber the picture of she and her older brother sitting on the bottom step. She’s wearing two different shoes.
I’ve been reading your blog a long time. I’m having a hard time thinking of her as a seven year old too.
April 23rd, 2010 at 9:21 pmBeautiful girl and beautiful necklace.
I love this photo too:)
April 24th, 2010 at 10:56 amWhat a pretty necklace. Hope she had a great day. How old was she when you pierced her ears? My daughter has been asking (she’s 4) but I’m not sure if she’s old enough yet to care for them. And this mama does not need another job!
April 25th, 2010 at 9:22 amHas it been that long already? She was just a baby when you started blogging and Miles was barely a bump. It’s been a fun (and oddly validating) ride watching your family grow up at the same time I’m watching my own. Happy birthday to your 7 year old princess.
April 26th, 2010 at 9:37 amHappy Belated Birthday to your girl (love the necklace and love the price)
April 27th, 2010 at 9:04 amI don’t even want to think about it. Lael has been announcing that’s she 6 1/2. I don’t want to think about it. Not.At.All.
April 27th, 2010 at 10:10 amHappy Birthday!!
April 27th, 2010 at 10:36 amThe neckless is so pretty!!
