Well, hello there
April 27, 2010
I have been busy. Doing… stuff. Actually I have no idea what I have been doing that has kept me away from here.
Though when I look over at my twitter account and rack my memory, it seems that I have:
celebrated my daughter’s birthday
went to a birthday party at the minor league baseball field
went to four different youth baseball games
took the kids to the pool
went to another kid birthday parrty
celebrated my daughter’s birthday again
went to the grocery store THREE times and still managed to forget to buy bread
filled up the gas tank in the car THREE times yet never got farther than 5 miles from my home
went out to Bar-B-Q with Miles
thought today was Thursday, when in fact it is only Tuesday
And then I made this. And it was good.
Last week I made this. It was also good.
You know what the two recipes have in common? They both have the word EASY in the title. Because that is about all I have time for these days.
Related only because of the inner workings of my crazy brain… my kids are watching Nikelodeon and that Miranda Cosgrove song that plays every single commercial is stuck in my head. It is so bad I am considering stabbing myself in the ear with a screwdriver.

I know! It’s been stuck in my head for about 2 weeks. Help!
April 27th, 2010 at 5:38 pm“When I’m kissing you it all starts making sense… blah blah blah… when I’m kissing yoouuuu!”
Same story here!
Chris says: YEEESSSSSS. I am glad I am not alone with this earworm.
April 27th, 2010 at 6:31 pmI know what you mean. When they were playing that Nick Jonas song 1,000 times a day…wait a minute, I don’t let my kid watch THAT much TV, what am I saying? Nevermind
April 27th, 2010 at 6:50 pmMy 3 yr old kept asking me why Nick Jonas thinks no one loves him.
you mean the one that sounds like it’s about losing your virginity? Yeah I walk around singing that a lot myself.
April 27th, 2010 at 8:38 pmThis is the second blog I’ve read today that mentions the Miranda Cosgrove commercial song that is driving the mom insane. I’m scared to walk into the living room and see what my kids are watching –
April 28th, 2010 at 12:15 amPass the screwdriver, I can’t take it anymore either.
April 28th, 2010 at 12:33 amThe list of activities sounds like exactly the reason we wake up one day and go “Gee, has it been 6 months since we’ve talked to so-and-so?”
We just get so lost in our daily life that we kind of forget about all the time passing by. At least that’s true for ME.
April 28th, 2010 at 6:30 amSo, if all us parents know the words, who’s actually watching tv, the kids or us?
April 28th, 2010 at 8:09 amYour first recipe is what my mom always called dump cake, because all you do is dump the ingredients in and cook it.
Children think highly of this name as well.
April 28th, 2010 at 9:25 amI have that stupid Justin Beiber song stuck in my head, the one where he just says “Baby, baby, baby” over and over.
Kill me. Please.
April 28th, 2010 at 9:55 amWell hello to you also. I must say i do sneak over to the other sites (stalking I hope not) to get my daily fix.
April 28th, 2010 at 10:33 amEck..don’t get me started on Icarly chick..my seven year old wants me to buy her album..how do I get out of that? I can’t listen to her in the car too! Make it STOP!
April 28th, 2010 at 11:13 amFor serious - what is with all of these April birthdays? I feel like I’ve been on the birthday-merry-go-round long enough to get dizzy, un-dizzy, and dizzy again! (Fun, though.)
April 28th, 2010 at 2:14 pmThank you for the peach cobbler recipe! You just helped me figure out what I’m making for a friend’s bday this weekend!
April 28th, 2010 at 5:14 pmThose look yummy! Look forward to trying the recipes.
April 28th, 2010 at 5:57 pmI don’t know the song, but I teach kids ages 3-17, and whenever I introduce myself, if the kid is under the age of 12, they generally say, “OH, like iCarly!?”
I am tempted to say “NO, NOT LIKE iCARLY. I WAS BORN FIRST.”
April 28th, 2010 at 10:28 pmI made both the recipes last night
Very quick and easy to prepare…the ‘dump’ cake is awesome (yes, even standing in front of the fridge, as you suggest!), the chicken was also great but I used too much spice rub/not enough chicken, so a wee bit strong…next time, twice as much chicken and it will be PERFECT! Yum! Thanks for sharing, I have been blank on what to cook these days…this helped out lots!
April 29th, 2010 at 2:18 pmOh, I’m excited to try the peach cobbler. Looks yummy! Thanks for posting! I can’t wait to get to some Miranda Cosgrove and teen pop. Right now all my kids want to hear is “Wheels on the Bus” by Raffi over and over and over…
May 1st, 2010 at 2:16 pmMy seven year old actually said to me the other day:
“sometimes they play the video twice during the same commercial break”
We were watching Nick in the morning (Nick transitions from Nick at Nick to Nickelodeon at 7am) and the Miranda Cosgrove video had played twice by 7:11am. I was already keeping score. I am more pathetic than i realized.
