My Life
August 10, 2010
It is very difficult to get any sort of work done around here when you look up from your laptop mid-thought and see an impromptu interpretive dance happening on the counter. It is no wonder I have not had a complete thought in years.
It is so normal for life in this house that no one else even pays attention. As evidenced by my 9 yr old cooking himself French toast without even glancing behind him.
They are so ready for life in a frat house. I wonder if I can move them in there early, like now.

The other frat guys would probably love having them and treat them like pets. Unfortunately, that would probably mean tequila shots for breakfast. Better to apply the shots to yourself when the kids start making you crazy!
August 10th, 2010 at 1:47 pmI think the residents of the frat house will be eternally grateful that your self-sufficient sons with mad cooking skillz have joined the party! Love him making the french toast.
August 10th, 2010 at 1:53 pmThat is awesome. I am curious, at what age do you let the kids start using the stove/oven? I want to get my kids cooking as soon as possible!
August 10th, 2010 at 1:59 pmI was going to say the first photo looked a little more like aerobics, but clearly the second photo makes the interpretive dance clear.
August 10th, 2010 at 2:23 pmI’d say ask about the early move in on the frat houses. The worst they could say is “no.”
August 10th, 2010 at 2:36 pmit looked like something REALLY needed to be interpreted, and through dance, like BIG TIME. I think it successfully got interpreted. Was it about the french toast?
August 10th, 2010 at 3:00 pmshaking head in wonderment — your kids are amazing!!
August 10th, 2010 at 3:17 pmIs he calling out to the heavens in the 2nd photo or pleading for his brother’s attention?
August 10th, 2010 at 3:22 pmSorry….I can’t stop laughing :0)………..
Frat house for the elementary set…could be fun!
Hang in there Chris :0)
August 10th, 2010 at 4:17 pmSorry, Chris, it looks like you are already in the frat house. Cute kids, though. LoL
August 10th, 2010 at 4:59 pmI just love the beseeching arms up in the second photo. I clapped. I couldn’t help it.
August 10th, 2010 at 5:32 pmI love that line - “They are so ready for life in a frat house” - but I would miss seeing Miles’ smile.
August 10th, 2010 at 5:33 pmThat is so so funny. My husband is the one who remains oblivious to what is going on around him in our household. I don’t know how he can so successfully tune out all 3 kids and the dog at times.
August 10th, 2010 at 5:34 pmYou know, now that you mention it, this is a semi-normal kind of thing for my house too. The things my kids must do that other people think are crazy and don’t even phase us.
August 10th, 2010 at 8:34 pmHA! that totally made my night. I had one to many dances including that last pose Miles is in
August 10th, 2010 at 10:26 pmi’m sending my 10 yr old so your 9 yr old can teach him how to make french toast….though i think he’d rather make pancakes as he likes those better.
August 10th, 2010 at 11:40 pmThat is pure awesome. Miles is SO like my Isaiah. This age is hilarious.
August 11th, 2010 at 12:03 amToo fricken funny.
August 11th, 2010 at 1:16 amLove the arms streched out in dramatic fashion. Makes me laugh.
And also think, mine is not too far behind…oh joy. Must have camera at the ready.
You have great kids. At the young age they are so independent cooking on food they want. You got adorable kids. Just take care of your health.
August 11th, 2010 at 2:38 amNot the point, I know, but I love that your 9 year old cooks french toast. I know plenty of grown men (and quite a few women) who can’t cook anything that requires actual ingredients.
August 11th, 2010 at 9:43 amI can’t believe that you have decorative plates on your counter with all these kids on countertops. I am surprised you aren’t spending your day sweeping up broken items.
Do love the 9 yr old making French toast. Can he visit and teach me how? I have never been able to get it right.
August 11th, 2010 at 8:36 pmi love this. because i have 2 kids and i pretty much let them do what they want to and i think only other mothers may understand that. rock on with your bad self.
August 11th, 2010 at 10:05 pmOh My Gosh! He is so freakin’ funny!
And it would appear as though he spends ALOT of time ON the counter top - cooking, dancing, etc.
I don’t know how you do it - but thank heavens you have Miles for comic relief!
August 12th, 2010 at 8:06 amYou are so funny
August 12th, 2010 at 5:40 pmno they can’t go yet but at least you have prepared them!
August 12th, 2010 at 9:47 pmI need to show my husband your backsplash. I have the same countertops and cabinet stain. I pretty much have the same kids, too.
August 13th, 2010 at 9:49 amOK… as one who hates the term “LOL” I literally laughed out loud. I simply love you and your children. Thank you.
August 13th, 2010 at 6:41 pmMiles looks like he’s praying to the kitchen gods. Too funny!
