the little catcher
April 13, 2012
I sent my 17 year old a text message this morning with a photo of his 7 year old brother. He had been catcher in the previous nights baseball game and looked so cute in his catching costume, sorry I mean uniform.
The message said: OMG Look at how cute the baby is!
He texted me back: In ten years when he is my age, are you still going to be calling him the baby?
Yes, yes I am.

Normally I just read without ever commenting but that has to be one of the cutest pictures ever. I’m sure he will always be your baby!
April 13th, 2012 at 4:25 pmI just turned 29 and I am the youngest in my family. Still “the baby.”
April 13th, 2012 at 4:28 pmI work with a guy who is 40 something and his family STILL refer to him as either “the baby” or just call him “Baby” in conversation. Which apparently got some strange looks from his mom’s geriatrician not long ago.
April 13th, 2012 at 4:51 pmOf course you will!
April 13th, 2012 at 4:55 pmToo Cute! My 7 year old son makes me laugh when he has to wear his batting helmet. It is the smallet one I could find yet he still looks like a bobble head doll when he runs the bases. They are so cute in their sports guy costumes/uniforms.
April 14th, 2012 at 10:11 amI was 8-1/2 when my baby sister was born in Dec 1956. She is still my baby sister.
April 14th, 2012 at 11:12 amYes indeed, the baby will always be the baby. I still call my 62-year-old sister my “baby sister!”
April 14th, 2012 at 1:17 pmYeah, we have this problem. My “baby” will be 3 yrs old this year. It is hard to teach her to be a big girl and go potty when you yell, “Did you get the baby…?” *sigh* I keep forcing myself to not call her baby and by her name. It is so hard.
April 14th, 2012 at 11:03 pmIt is the curse of being the youngest. I am the 41 year old baby.
April 15th, 2012 at 2:29 pmMy 21 year old is now the baby. If I close my eyes and kiss his temple where the little baby hairs USED to be, I can still imagine that sweet little guy.
What makes him sweet as an adult is that he still tolerates it…and if you ask me, I think he still kind of likes it!
April 15th, 2012 at 7:08 pmGirl I got your back on this one. My son is 20 and is the only child therfore he will ALWAYS
April 16th, 2012 at 11:54 amBE MY BABY
April 16th, 2012 at 11:54 amSO CUTE!! I call my boys’ uniforms their “outfits” and they hate it. Why does the work outfit seem easier to remember than uniform!? My oldest is 12 and my youngest is 7 as well…..he’ll always be the baby!
April 16th, 2012 at 9:57 pmMy 14 yr old girl is perpetually my baby which seems to quite annoy my 31 yr old girl. Oh my god, I have a 31 yr old.
April 17th, 2012 at 1:31 amSo true! Once the baby always the baby. That is a very cute picture!
April 17th, 2012 at 4:34 pmAbsolutely with you on this! Still calling my 18 month old toddler “my newborn baby” and not planning on stopping any time soon…
April 17th, 2012 at 11:47 pmThey will always remain the baby, right?
April 18th, 2012 at 8:00 pmWe were talking about this very thing in our home the other day. My oldest son said that when our 6 year old is 60, I’ll be saying, “isn’t the baby so cute?”
April 18th, 2012 at 10:51 pmMy son asked me something very similiar and I told him the same damn thing.
April 19th, 2012 at 12:40 pmEven when he’s 36 and has a baby of his own……
my son is just use to it :0)
My first baby…..
love it.
Happy baseball season “Mom”
April 21st, 2012 at 2:40 pmNow I feel better on continuing calling my two year old my “baby boy”. I was so grieving that my baby was not my baby anymore. uhmmmm
April 26th, 2012 at 11:24 pmDitto. My 6-1/2 baby girl is still “the baby”. She did tell me & Hubs that it’s ok for us to call her ‘the baby’ at home or in private but not in front of her friends or in public. She’s my last. Hard to come by. She’ll always be the baby.
